Do not underestimate the sneakiness.
You need to thay it with the acthent.
Good maids and buttlers all take at least one level of ninja.
I was about to say much the same.
Unless they were previously a 00. (I love the fan theory that Alfred, Bruce Wayne’s butler, is a retired 00 agent)
Or unless he is Domovoi Butler (from Artemis Fowl).
We all need masters of sneakiness.
And here we see Rex slowly building his C&D library. I’m somewhat curious on when we may see another C&D game with Benji.
I can relate to Rex’s situation with the books. My city holds an annual comic book convention with a Cosplay runway, and my character just wasn’t designed for carrying a bunch of shopping bags filled with books and merchandise.
Always take an empty backpack, even if it doesn’t fit with your costume.
I tried that a couple years ago, but it was such a hassle to reach behind me to take it off and put stuff in it, only to put it back on again.
Maybe a small rolling suitcase would prove more accessible. I’ll give it a try next time I go.
If it’s applicable, maybe a pouch?
If not, then maybe a compartment inside the costume, if the costume is bulky enough.
All good suggestions. Thank you to both of you!
Here is a little more detail about my situation: a major part of my costume is an antique “magic lantern” projector strapped to my chest. (I’m a SteamPunk enthusiast, so the idea was to make it look a bit like a locomotive headlamp and smokebox.) It lights up and looks awesome, and I wouldn’t change a thing. However, much of the insides are taken up by a large mounted flashlight, and when I’m wearing the prop it’s difficult to reach across my chest to adjust anything on my shoulders. My hands can still work with things at waist level (albiet blindly,) and I get some eye-hand coordination by reaching around or above the projection lens. I just can’t pat myself on the shoulder, or put anything across my chest from shoulder to hip.
@Random Guy – My suggestion would still be to take a backpack, but to wear it one-shouldered rather than with both straps. This mitigates most of the difficulty in putting it on and off again. Another option to entertain is to wear it on your fore rather than your back, assuming that it doesn’t interfere with your costume (i.e. if the projector you mentioned can be mounted on the pack rather than on your chest).
If only portable holes or bags of holding were available in our world.
(replying here since I can’t reply to your other reply)
Would you be able to pull your arm(s) into the center area of the costume while you’re wearing it? Like, not have your arms in your sleeves. If you’re able to do that, then you might be able to put a box above/below/to-one-side-or-both of the flashlight you mentioned.
Or, cargo side pockets in your pants. If you have the right sewing machine (look up “zero pressure foot” sewing machines) you can add pockets to the pants without having to tear apart the pant legs.
Correction: “zero pressure presser foot” is what I meant to say. Some older machines have them, and they allow you to move the fabric in any direction; not limited to forward and backward. So, if you adjust the travel speed and presser foot pressure to zero, you can move the fabric straight sideways, meaning you can sew a pocket onto a pair of pants without having to rip seams.
I’m starting to think fate has plans for a future catacomb master. I almost worry for his free time. Considering he got a big pack that probably has at least one premade module in it he’d probably be able to use that to get his feet wet. The problem there is Benji has definitely read or ran that module before, so how would he interact. My favorite way to get around that as a DM is to either be a dumb character that may sometimes stumble into something story critical the party might otherwise miss. Traps too, can’t let my foreknowledge be only good
I -think- I remember one of Rex’ new acquisitions has multiple modules included. If Benji’s already both “DMed” and “played” a module Rex now has, he could turn it into a training tool to help get Rex started as a DM. 🙂
To be fair, Alex does seem to be a devil of a butler. I would not even bat an eye at that fellow in the middle of a convention.
Heh, perhaps Alex does a little bit of ninja work on the side! Hat was pretty smooth just popping in like that.
I’d bet Alex has a “side-job” as bodyguard for Cleo, without her knowing it. (Way to go, Dad! ;-))
That is why “the butler did it” is always the most likely explanation, they are ninja assassins.
Or demons.
icould not figure out how to put the picture here but here a link. https://overlordmaruyama.fandom.com/wiki/Sebas_Tian
Cleo isn’t Batman, but she is Serpent Girl. She even has the natural snake power of her tail and strangling people!
Rex is a happy wolf. I wonder if Kai and Kaya will win any bigger ticket items like Rex… Did Alex receive stealth or ninjutsu training? He certainly mastered the ability to quickly appear and disappear when needed. I wonder if he’s also Cleo’s bodyguard… Though I guess love tackles from Kaya don’t count as bodily harm.
Perhaps Rex should’ve brought a bag or backpack of some kind with him, it would definitely make it easier to carry his loot. Maybe he can win one from a lottery drawing? It would be better then storing his loot in his costume, which, come to think of it, must be stuffy in there.
butler would actually be an awesome disguise for a stealthy/discreete bodyguard – no one pays attention to them even though they´re always around, and given the usual outfit odds are they´re totally underestimated as a potential threat by potential wanna-be kidnappers.
given how rich cleo´s family is, she totally needs a badass ninja-butler/bodyguard!……and now i want to see kaya flame some idiot daring to try and harm her friend. because for all that she´s a cutie pie, kaya is still a dragon. you don´t want to pi# her off….just remeber how that buly got her bald spot 😉
Butler Jutsu #33 – Suit Change.
…I mean, the last time we saw him today was on Arrival https://www.twindragonscomic.com/comic/arrival/ and that was just his hand, coat sleeve, and hair. I’m not sure what exactly makes you think he’s wearing a different suit than the one he showed up in.
between his job and practice both solo and team it is good to see Rex happy and into something not basketball and work related. as for Alex is Cleo even sure those three butlers were even Alex or not.
i remember first reading this nearly 3 years ago, iirc it was only up to when the library was first seen, i’m really into the worldbuilding of this
And that caps it off for 2025.
The white Wolf wins his own
lucky prize in the raffle.
Has Amy’s luck rubbed off
as she continues to baffle?
Alex is right at hand,
as stealthy as a ninja.
A professional, just as planned
(good job Rex’s not a whinger)
The leads win the lowest prize.
What will they put it to?
After all, we still don’t know
what they’re really gonna do…
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
Watch Nate do the same, pop up when the time is right. Or, mayhaps, is wrong.
You claim that Cleo isn’t Batman, but we haven’t seen Cleo and Batman together in the same room. I’m just saying
Honestly, Cleo would be Iron Man, not Batman xD
Hmmm…Cleo’s superpower is definitely money, though.
But, I doubt she has the training ability to match Bruce Wayne or the engineering genius to match Tony Stark.
But she could hire an engineering genius. Unless her father already has a dozen suits in his garage.
Cleo’s not Tony Stark, she’s Morgan Stark.
i think Cleo is smart. so instead why not say she is oracle instead of batman.
No wheelchair?
Alex drives her around everywhere. so that can be her wheelchair and if not lets call her bat girl then. she still has the brains of Barbra Gorden either way. right.
Would any of the other Butler cosplayers be dressed as a certain Dragon Butler? Name of Fafnir for example.
I’m going to call it now. Rex and Cleo will be an #OfficialCouple before the end of this arc.
If you’re open to some pedantry/feedback, it would be more correct for Cleo to refer to Alex as a valet rather than a butler.
A valet is a personal attendant, whereas a butler oversees a household and its servants.
The term “butler” derives from the Old French “botellier” (literally “the servant in charge of the bottles”, still often part of their modern role) and as wines and liquors are expensive assets, that position was naturally filled by a highly trusted servant of the household, and thus naturally evolved into being the highest ranking position, in charge of the other servants.
Not to say being that the master’s valet is an un-prestigious position, but it doesn’t cross over well with a butler. A valet is supposed to be immediately at the master’s beck and call, the butler is supposed to be keeping an eye on the other servants.
Typical Supernatural Butler Powers, same as any proper Ninja Meido.
(sorry, weebing out here a bit. XD )
Love it though, I was basically waiting for a joke like that, did not expect it to happen at the con. ^^
Nice execution Robin.
Finally figured out what the Butler reminded me of…
The Butler from Mr Deeds…
https://youtu.be/Tlfd0Y0SjgA?si=9T624nUuTHPLGtIU
Literally from the top comment, lol. “You underethtimate the thneakineth.”
It’s been ages since I’ve seen Mr Deeds, so I can’t remember most of the quotes. I do remember the foot & the Butler wanting to touch it, and that he was “very very sneaky sir”…
robin on YouTube i watched MLP next gen tribute we are family. the song made me think of your comic. did you know.
Is this the kind of butler like Artemis Fowl’s Butler?
