I’ve got a better question for you, Lala. Do you wanna have a bad time? Because if you continue down this path you have chosen, you’re not gonna like what comes next.
(Also, bat hybrid in the last panel looks SO AWESOME.)
Nate’s help arriving 3, 2, 1!
Well Larissa is not a complete idiot if she caught on to Nate’s words that quick. Let’s just hope she doesn’t figure out who it was that ratted her out. At least not until Liz has a chance to get somewhere safe.
No, she’s not a complete idiot, she’s missing a bit of hair up top still… 🤣🤣🤣
Don’t know if LaLa will work out it was Liz, but I’m thinking Liz will have some new friends (and 1 previous friend) who will help defend her…
Looks like she’s about to be “batted out” by Nate’s reinforcement. The Bat Brat is coming in hot, he better know what he’s doing if he doesn’t want to wipe out into the fish heads. Oh, and Larissa too.
Do I see a spin-off coming,
boarding in from the right;
whilst Lala gives a crash course
and threatens with all her might?
Nate’s not impressed, no way, no how
as the girl here commits assault;
blaming others for all her woes
when they’re really all her fault.
Nate may have given it away;
where he got the information.
To find out if it goes awry
be here for next week; same station.
It’s a bat, cool!!! I was wondering if/when we’d see a “flying/ or avian” hybrid.
Why do I find it rather funny that Larissa gets riled up on Nate’s comedic and nonchalant interactions and responses. Other than what’s stated above, of course.
Simple: we all get a kick out of seeing villains thwarted.
Or maybe they dated once?
If he could fly they wouldn’t bother with examining dragon fire. Those wings are waaaay to small to allow him to fly without some sort of magic.
I think what Drakara meant was “a hybrid whose origin animal is capable of flight” rather than “a hybrid who can fly”.
Correct. That was my train of thought, at least.
My guess, this is going to be the incident that causes Lala and her partner in crime t finally part ways. Lala’s gone into full obsession mode, and her partner is just an accessory because she’s more of an enabler for the time being.
That new character, who is riding a skateboard, seems to be some kind of Bat hybrid. Fun fact, bats actually have decent eyesight, around as good as the average human in some cases.
If bats have Human level vision & echolocation hearing, and most Hybrids seem to have some of their animal side’s abilities, would this newcomer have excellent hearing or perhaps actual echolocation too?
Possibly, but it depends on the kind of bat. Fruit bats, like the flying fox, for example, actually operate during daylight hours and don’t have the ability to echolocate but still have highly acute hearing. So it would mostly depend on what kind of bat they share attributes with.
Sorry, but I had a thought. Combine batboy’s echolocation with a reaction to seeing something cute. Batboy goes EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! 🤣
To keep going from that, what if it is a girl? I’ve gotten that wrong before, was still learning the differences between you Humans, so could be a girl. And if a girl with that echo sound thing saw something cute…
We’ll find out which Hybrids have dog-whistle level hearing…
Well, that probably leaves out Jesse, ever since “The Incident”. 😉
Jin likely does, given his subdued but pained reaction to Kaya’s high pitched squee back in Chapter 10 pages 20 & 21. That still leaves Rex, Benji, Troye, the Bat Brats, the titular Twin Dragons (even though they’re not mammals, just look at those adorable, massive ears!), and the various background Hybrids.
I must be getting senile; I’m not -that- sleepy yet. 🙂 I wrote out an additional reply to this a few minutes ago; then, luckily -before- hitting ‘Send’, realized I was referring to SaveState characters instead of TwinDragons characters. LOL
Iron Ed: I believe Daniel the Human calls that a “brain fart”, and that they can a normal thing. Gotta keep reminding myself Humans have brains, not processors like us Cybertronians…
The anatomical accuracy part of me that whimpered at all the tails (an extension of the spine connecting to the back at a 90 degree angle? Egad) is currently twitching about the bat’s wing membrane ending at the armpit instead of the waist. But I wouldn’t worry, even DreamWorks did it in the Nine Realms.
A tail at a 90° angle is not a problem:

What makes my scientific mind wince is the fact that the “umbrella ribs” that support bats’ wing membranes are their finger bones, so this bat hybrid seems to have fingers attached near the elbows.
Daniel here. Yeah, tails can be rather flexible, even those that can’t hold on to things, if only at the base so it can swat away flies. As for the “umbrella ribs”, I’d say instead of actual bone/fingers, I’d suspect they would be thickened skin or cartilage (like your nose), most likely cartilage considering how they are holding their shape. Hybrids are still Human, just with animal traits, so obviously no fingers webbed with skin creating wings. I’m curious about how their fingers look, normal or relatively long & spindly…
Nate knows nothing yet , but i’m sure Larisa will reveal all “accidentally” (as usual)
Last panel : “- I come to help Nate , cause i’m …… Batman” ^_^”
Knows nothing? Did you miss the call from Liz?
Larissa hasn’t yet revealed her plans ; but with Nat’s words , she assumes he knows it
And we don’t know yet if Lizzie has just warned Nate about Larissa or revealed the entire plan ?
collision incoming
The skateboard is a batmobile. 😉
If Batboy is an in-comic fan of Batman, he probably has a sparkler/roman candles/an actual rocket motor mounted on the bottom. If for nothing else, it’d be great for show!
Yep.
It’s Batman.
Manbat is more accurate an equivalent character but yes.
I can see him having Batman aspirations though. Or Batmanbat.
What I want to know. What is that little pink thing on their head.
If you are referring to Larissa it’s a bald spot that is slowly filling back in. Way back in comic Larissa tried picking a fight with Kaya and got some of the hair on top of her head burned off as a result.
Found the page where LaLa shows off what he new hairstyle looks like, mid museum tour…
https://www.twindragonscomic.com/comic/hidden-content/
…might be able to find where it gets roasted off later…
Save yourself the effort, Screwball; the fight happened off-panel when Kaya was first making friends with Cleo.
No on the bat hybrid.
Headphone? Earing? Guess we’ll see soon…
My guess is that it’s a band-aid. Many skaters/skateboarders are depicted with one at times because they inevitably fall and cut/scrape their face.
HES A VAMPIRE! GET OUT THE PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES!
The angry mob of unruly villagers/peasants was done two weeks ago! *Sigh* I’ll go gather up the big unruly mob again and call Sir Bedevere. I’m not sure if they’re willing to chase after such a cute little baby Bat Brat on the accusation of him being a vampire.
-Big, unruly mob: “Vampire! Vampire! Burn the vampire! Burn the baby vampire! Burn the vampire!”
-Random villager runt at the end: “Burn the nosferatu!” *The other villagers stare at the runt at the end*
-Random villager 2: *Slaps the RATE villager* “Shh!”
-Random villager 3: ” She’s Italian?! ”
-Random villager 2: *Slaps Random villager 3* “Oi! Knock off as well, you! That’s obviously a boy vampire!”
…
Well, I’ve been wrong before…
“I had my third vaccination shot last week. The booster shot. I was floored by it on saturday…
The previous two shots? Not a problem. Didn’t feel a thing. But this one was Moderna instead of Pfizer and I seem to react to that one way harder.”
Same here, same result. From what I’ve been hearing in the news and among friends who have also gotten it as a booster, Moderna does not play well with others.
All three of my shots were Moderna, and I’ve had -0- bad reactions to any of them. The worst was minor soreness around the shot site of the first two. I barely felt the third at all. 🙂
With all the fuss from others, I almost worry that my vaccine was too weak; but, all three?
Ditto.
I choose third pfizer for my shot exactly for this reason. Still didn’t fell well next day. I suspect every shot will be worse.
I’ve heard that mixing Pfizer and Moderna actually works better than just sticking with one. But “working better” can mean more of a response, so there’s a certain amount of this. That said, yeah, there is also a tendency for the side effects to get worse with each shot.
My first done gave me some soreness near the injection site for about 6 hours, 6 days later. My second dose gave me similar soreness for 4 hours the next day. After my my booster, my shoulder was sore starting that evening for 3 days. Mind you I was also starting to suffer through Omicron at the same time, so that may have had something to do with it. That had minor symptoms for about a week. “On the fourth day of Christmas, by true love gave to me… Omicron!” Actually, I think it was co-working a few days before Christmas that gave it to me.
Different people react in different ways. You should probably consult a doctor before taking any of them. Especially since they’re less than a year old and this is functionally the biggest phase 1 drug trial the world has ever seen. (For reference it’s usually not until phase 3 or 4 that it starts to get a wider release)
Don’t believe Cliff’s FUD about “phase 1 trial”.
How COVID-19 vaccines were made so quickly without cutting corners
Spoiler: No science was skipped. No safety was skipped. What was skipped was many months of unproductive waiting.
Agree to disagree. Time is needed to understand long term effects and side effects. My point was be informed, be careful, and be safe.
They make a risk reward comparison. Even a dodgy, semi effective vaccine would be better than a dangerous illness. And this one was good.
For comparison, consider the two polio vaccines. Polio is unknown in the US, so we use the safer vaccine. It requires three shots, but assuming it was made properly, is safe.
The oral vaccine is more effective, needs one dose, is easier to handle in remote areas, and has zero resistance. Barring religious idiocy. But it will give you polio every once in awhile, 2 or 3 per million I think. So it is used in areas where the risk of wild polio outweighs that small risk.
Here comes a new incoming character and he batboy!
“Nanananana…Bat-Kiiiiiid!” Charon rollin’ on, stage-right? 🙂
I like the fancy math for Larissa’s thought process. Is that complicated thinking why her schemes tend to fail? LOL
“Fish Cake” Great; now I’m hungry. Unfortunately, fish costs too much. (And I’m only 2 hours from the ocean!)
If you have a boat and a stick, the fish are free! XD
I like eating fish, but not catching/cleaning them. Also, boring. Gave up fishing and gave my tackle to sis-in-law 30+ years ago. 🙂
So, the bat guy “accidentally” rams Larissa, knocking her jar to the ground, breaking it. Oops!
I hope not. They (or Nate) might end up suffering the splatter!
Maybe he’ll grab it instead when he zips by. Larissa would probably be too mad at Nate to notice in time.
Nate is a master troll and is using that ability to keep Larissa’s attention squarely on him. That way whatever skateboard bat is going to do, Larissa won’t see it coming.
The question is, in which pocket does Larissa have the jar? It’d be difficult to nab the jar from her if it’s in a tight pocket.
She was carrying it in a plastic bag last we saw it. Just go back a couple of comics and you can see it.
And notice, we never see Larissa’s right hand in -this- comic. 😉
Is Batboi wearing his hat backwards and riding away from the camera? Or is he facing the camera with his hat covering his face?
Also, it kinda looks like his wings are on opposite sides of his arms, like on one arm the wing is on his bicep and the other arm the wing is on his tricep.
We’re seeing them from behind turned slightly to the right (riding away from the panel view) both membranes are on the tricep side of the arm
Calling it: His name is Bruce.
The bet is on! I think it’s Charon. 🙂
I’m thinking it’ll “Opus”, as a play on “Pteropus”.
Had to look that up but, yeah; that’s a nice possibility. 🙂
Bat Brat Charon incoming! It seems he’s among the reinforcements Nate has ordered. The Bat Brat is coming in hot, hopefully he can successfully grab the bag o’ fish heads without any incident. I can see it happening at least three main ways: 1. Charon grabs the jar without any slip ups, 2. he ends up grabbing the wrong thing (what thing that is I’ll leave to your imagination, could be someone’s shirt or even Nate or even more unlikely, Charon’s own pants), or 3. he crashes into someone or something and the jar goes flying before breaking open, therefore ruining the evil plan anyways. Judging from the visible band aid on “Tony Bat” Charon’s cheek, it’s likely there’s going to be a crash landing at one point.
One thing that caught my attention, that hasn’t been commented on so far, is that Nate got Larissa to essentially admit to her plot! I count this as being a “trust but verify” move regarding the warning Liz sent: if Larissa wasn’t up to the fish-based shenanigans, then the “interesting choice of words” comment would’ve likely been met with a puzzled look.
Instead, Larissa’s not-quite-paranoid¹ defensive interrogation undoubtedly has Nate thinking “target confirmed”. And this might even tie in with why Nate has a bat hybrid coming in: if their hearing is sufficiently acute to track a distant conversation, Larissa’s reaction would be the difference between “call off the strike” and “mission is a go”… without Nate having to do any other signalling!
Gah, made a footnote and forgot to include its text before posting.
¹: As the saying goes, is it really paranoia when they’re out to get you?
Larissa: “What do you know? How do you know? WHO SENT YOU?!”
Nate: “Well, you were acting kinda FISHy.”
Larissa: “You said that was an interesting choice of words. What do you mean?”
Nate: “Nothing at all, unless you think I’m FISHing for information.”
Larissa: (twitch) “Prove it. I demand to see your phone for proof!”
Nate: “What, do you think I’m cat-FISHing you?”
Larissa: “AARGH!”
LaLa: “WHY ARE YOU BEING SO ANNOYING?!”
Nate: “Settle down LaLa, you’re like a FISH out of water right now…”
“What do you know? How do you know?”
“I know you’re up to no good, and they way I found out is you angrily demanding what I know & how.”
