Safety dad disapproves! But good to see Near is active and enjoying life.
Control crushed like a beer can
as he finds his daughter is growing.
Delusion or eternity is part of life
but another certainty is knowing.
The dangers we deny them appear
as does all the emotions of love.
Passions and pride conflict enough
and loving lies brings wrath from above.
He knows nothing of Kai, this man,
only how he’s affected his daughter.
Can Near plead her case right here…
or is Kai a lamb to the slaughter?
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
Lamb to the slaughter? Kai’s got thicker skin than that, either way you think.
Still, hope it goes well: with how strict the father is, trouble is likely.
Hmmm. If she’s surfing without a wetsuit, we’re probably looking at Summer. Meaning this is either 6ish months before or after the Italy trip, as that was Summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
Actually, Near would have ended up missing a bit of school as well, as it would have been winter, and in any case, our school term structure is different. We only have a month of summer holiday, though we get a more weeks out between the school terms.
It took me many years to realise that the US had about 3 months of Summer. The Phineas and Ferb theme song confused me a bit.
I’m a fellow Australian, but based on conversations I’ve read online about that theme song, it’s inaccurate even in the US of A.
…though I just checked, and the 10-12 weeks that they apparently get is still significantly longer than we get (but it’s still 20-34 days short of what Phineas and Ferb get).
it varies depending on state and district, there are a bunch of different schedules schools use.and people tend to do some rounding when referring to the months. it’s typically less than 3 full months, but the first and last month are only about a week short each, so when talking about it we round up.
I don’t know why but when I saw her parkour image I thought she was practicing to be a superhero. Maybe it’s just because I finally started watching My Hero Academia. But I wonder if some hybrids consider playing vigilante superhero?
My thought was: typical cat hybrid behavior.
Parkour cat!
As an Australian, I can sympathise with Near’s disappointment at losing rock-paper-scissors – those spiders are cute!
Also, her dad should not be surprised that his cat of a daughter likes climbing stuff and being up walls (I know I enjoy that, and I’m severely lacking in the fur, claws, and movable ears department).
you are assuming that he’s upset over her activities (which presumably he is at least partially aware of), and not other things on there. like say, a certain date she went on while on vacation in italy..
or perhaps she posted pics of the jousting.. and he just realized she lied to him when she said she played Bocce..

Let me guess, as punishment he sends her on an student exchange program to the USA?
Crushing an unopened beer/soda can? I did that at bars for a freebee when I was a young man, but there’s a trick to it. He did it out of shock, that might sting a bit. At least we know why she wasn’t scared off when Kai showed his strength and fire ability. If she’s competing to mess with a spider in Australia, she’s hardly going to be scared of her unofficial boyfriend.
Why do you think it is unopened?
Well, Safety Dad needs also to learn how hybrids work.
Yes, he wants his little girl safe.
But young cats will be like young cats are. Climbing, running, and just enjoy everything they do.
If Nears body follows at least some of the cats anatomy.. There is not much to fear.
But.. safety dads will always be safety dads ^^”
Vincent (Near’s Dad), like Sabrina, is gonna have to learn to let his little girl grow up. She’s old enough to drive (almost), have a job, and even fall in love. It’s a hard thing for parents, sometimes.
Not sure I’d approve of my little girl doing parkour, but both my kids are accomplished skiers, surfers, and competitive skaters. You just have to let go sometimes.
I thought this was how all Australians spent their days. Meanwhile we Brits trudge through the fog and showers to buy our meagre rations of groceries before settling down to watch another depressing episode of EastEnders. Ho hum.
Haha, yes, frick you, dad! Your daughter is allowed to have fun!
Near’s dad isn’t a fan of something she did and now she’s gone from being in hot weather to hot water.
Near is a pretty active cat girl, a little too active for her dad’s liking, it seems. I don’t think he approves of the parkour practice, though would he approve of Kai? If she has to get rid of the giant spider, she should probably get a big container and trap the spider under it, then slide a piece of paper under it.
So this is how the rest of Near’s summer looks, seems like a lot of fun (and trouble). I wonder what exactly was on her “Instawham” account to make her dad crush his drink like that? Was it the parkour? What does Near post on her social media, anyways? And will we see Kai and Kaya’s Italy days next week?
This is actually six months ago. Warm weather in Australia happens in December. Near’s family went to Italy to escape the cold weather at home.
Hopefully Kai knows about Near’s Instawham. Everyone deserves cute pictures of their wannabe girlfriend. Although it might be interesting if Near discovers Kai being flirted with by Clementine Labeau.
Active kitty is active.
Yay, I was hoping Near was a surfer. Can’t live in Australia without taking advantage of the beaches.
I want a blown-up image of that surfer pic.
I notice she wears her sandies for mountain biking, but not parkour, which I suppose makes sense.
Pfffft – You call THAT tiny Arachnid a ‘Giant spider’??? You’ve obviously never seen a Golliath Bird-eater spider. They can way almost 7ounces and get as big as Dinner plates. =^^=
No fun allowed.
