Player handbook
Rex just wanted a player handbook, but life said no. Good thing Cleo overrules that xD
Cameo’s on this page:
Yony owned by Rattlerabbit
Gray owned by Taarin
unnamed wolf owned by Demonikwolf

The Dealer: I mean, I don’t mind if you buy this entire booth! XD
Smart decision agreeing with her there Rex!
Maybe, maybe not…
If Rex was cheeky, I do see another way this could have gone…
Rex: *Thinks for a moment…*
*Obviously lieing voice* “I mean. No. I. Will. Not. Let. You. Buy. Me. That. Book. Or. Any. Of. The. Other. Books. Here. That. I. Need……… Or. A. Set. Of. Dice or 2…..”
*Cleo just glares at him a bit, then chuckles smiling before grabbing the Player’s Manual, a couple of expansion books and a single nice set of dice…*
He’d have to be careful doing that though, don’t want to get into the same habit as her previous “friends”….
The fact he’s already shown he’s not just in it for the money would help….
Ooof. I sympathize all too well with that “There’s something I want, but life gets in the way” scenario. And Cleo’s found exactly the right situation to spend money on her friends in.
Well, guess I lost that bet. Looks like rex wants to brush up on the rules. Also a part time job on top of all the basketball training he does? The guy has more drive than anyone from my old school. Wonder what the job is, it’d be hilarious if he was just a stocker at a grocery store because he’s tall enough to not need a step stool to stock the top shelf all the way, but I’m not going to bet on that.
Given that Rex is more the physical type it should be something where he can use strength endurance and possibly size.
If it was summer in Wisconsin, he could do corn detassling.
“Detassling?” While it’s still growing in the field? Why do they do that? I’ve never heard of it.
Different varieties/species of corn. If they don’t want cross-breeding, they detassle. (Or something like that.)
“Accept my generosity or prepare to face my greater generosity!”
Between her insistence and grabbing Rex’s arm to pull him in, I kinda wonder if Cleo is more interested in Rex than she’s letting on…?
It is an issue if you force other to pay for you.
But Cleo learned now, that she doesn´t need that.
So if she offers from her heart to buy you a little book.. Take it and be happy.
Her threat is sincere. She can do way more. She could also buy the whole Dungeon and Drakes Merchandise, Handbooks, Rulebooks, and if she is in the mood even actors who would play accordingly to the players and gamemaster.
So.. If she just wants to buy you a book.. Take it. ^^
Cleo pulled out her credit/debit card between panels, I wonder how her draw compares to Gene Wilder, aka Jim “the Waco Kid.”
Rex has a part time job? I thought he was too devoted to basketball. I empathize with his predicament, having to chip in like that. It really sucks when you have to give up most of your earnings like that. Thankfully, he’s friends with a sweet snake willing to occasionally (thanks to Kaya’s help) buy stuff for her friends. I wonder if and how Rex will repay her… Thankfully, I don’t think Cleo will be aggressive about this like how she’s aggressively generous.
I see Yonny is also Han Solo, er, Duo like Benji. Does he have his own Princess Leia with him today? He seems to have a Son Goku, though. It’s cute how Cleo changes mood in the last two panels, especially the face she makes in the last one.
I would tell Rex to accept the book as a gift and then buy what he wants and not worry paying me back the “loan” since it would be 0% interest rate and when he can☺️
I’M BEING NICE WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!!!!
Panel 4: Maybe add a comma to “con”?
Panel 6: And also “gifts”?
I think both of those changes, especially the first one, would make it read a little strangely. The way Robin wrote it is more natural, and follows the cadence of the way people speak.
I agree about ‘con,’ and think ‘gifts’ can go either way; but, I lean slightly towards a comma after ‘gifts.’
Always good to debate the prose and cons!
Especially when good/bad puns are involved! LOL
I’d feel guilty if I was in Rex’s shoes. Sometimes it just FEELS like I’m being manipulative when I tell people my troubles and receive help in return.
IMO, just telling someone my trouble isn’t enough to be worthy of receiving help. I always feel like I need to earn what I receive. I dislike handouts. Not to get _too_ religious, but I think salvation should be the only thing I receive for free; everything else requires investment of time or labor. Don’t give me a handout; give me an opportunity. Even if the “work” the opportunity provides is basically just charity on the giver’s part, I still prefer that over receiving something for nothing.
I can understand and agree with this. I have also had a friend or two I had to be very careful how I say, “This is cool!” even if it’s not something I actually need, or I’ll turn around and find it in my hands.
Spend her cash or she’ll do it for you
and she only does it for her friends.
It’s not generous for one so rich
but it’s only for her friends she bends.
Cleo now knows the value
of those who don’t ask for things.
She values that friendship
over those who value gold rings.
The girl is learning that friends never ask,
so sometimes she has to offer with force.
She knows they don’t want to burden her.
Not that she’d ever mind now, of course.
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
I envy your powerful poetry prowess!
Cleo: Let me buy this for you! I’m threatening you with a good time!!!
Rex: Okay, okay!! *Tucks his tail between his legs.*
As I look into the crowd, is that a Dragon Ball hyena I see? I wonder what his power level is…
Probably *not* over 9000
I see Robin challenges the stereotypes about roleplaying nerds who hardly even go outside, and jocks with no interest in anything but sports. I approve. It is in fact possible to be interested in both sports and roleplaying.
But if Rex wants to be a T-rex, he just needs to put on a tee. 😉
oog
Welcome to the Twin Dragons readership! Robin’s been challenging that stereotype since Chapter 6.
Let her gift it to you now, earn it later.
It was either going to be that, or the rare Zocchihedron.

Comments/questions here or at AO3. Thank for reading!
Pretty well done, APG! Now we know of at least one small Italian town that has -2- match-makers in residence. 🙂
I’m glad you liked it. I have more I’m working on.
I like this glimpse into Rex’s home life, because it’s probably a big part of the reason he’s so driven, and his intensity as team captain now makes a lot of sense.
Not sure if this gets past the moderation because of the link, but someone MAY be using your content without your permission: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/OTqZ-_O_WFo
Thanks for letting me know 😀
As a general rule, I don’t require permission for people to do fanart or fandubs or the likes, as long as I’m properly credited. I can see that every video so far has had a link to my webtoons page, so people can find the comic. That’s quite already for me.
Fun fact, I’ve had several people join the Discord server because of these specific video’s AND I sold at least one book to one of them already, so I’m quite alright with the free advertising that person is doing 😀
I have read every single one of these episode things whatever you call the chapters in a comic, but I have read this all in two days. And it may or may not have taken 7 hours and 23 minutes of reading, but I loved every second of it. Especially the heat seeking missile, called Kaya. Also what happened to Nate and Jin during that last bit?

Not sure what exactly you think you did “wrong” in any way, but regardless: Welcome to the club of those who have completed an archive binge of an incomplete webcomic. Would you like a jacket, a hat, a pin, a pin on a hat, a pin on a jacket, or a jacket and a hat on which you can place the pin yourself? We also do daisy crowns if that’s your thing.
Not like he can’t pay her back. (Probably in non-cash, but still.)
Forced generosity before Kaya: Constrained.
Voluntary generosity after Kaya: SUPERCRITICALITY.
“Cleo, I’m glad that Kaya Romero is a much better friend for you, and you’ve got good business sense and fiscal responsibility, but when you need to bring in lawyers and a notary to the dealer floor at a convention, you might be spending a little too much.”
