I can already see Misha being a part if the Kaya Club!
Kaya figured out how to friend mode Misha! XD Well, Persians are a breed of cat so not entirely incorrect, heh!
Oh, boy, she’s found a kindred spirit
and got a smile out of the pup to boot.
This has our Cleo looking concerned
and wondering what nonsense is up.
A young lady of knowledge but no sense
giving out her gifts of lack of knowledge.
Getting things as wrong as can be;
Some think her brain is made of porridge.
But she could be the friend Kaya needs;
the one who can match her impulsive streak.
And, in response to all that Kaya shows,
Mischa will learn she doesn’t need to be meek…
Whoops.

Even if there was no other definition of Persian… what makes you think a WAR is appropriate reading material for a CHILD?! Hells, Watership Down is a book about rabbits, that doesn’t mean you recommend it to a kid who wants a book about bunnies!
but if you don’t know Watership Down, you would easily think it’s an innocent child book. My parents bought the Watership Down animated movie for me when I was very little. It’s the one movie I actually was scared of as a kid!
A good reminder to review things you think your kids might like before giving it to them.
I remember hearing about something similar happening with Grave of the Fireflies.
I am over 50 and I can only watch that film about once a year.
It is an amazing film but I have to tell friends who have children, do not let them watch this film.
I watched Watership Down when I was 5 and thought it was awesome. Only when I was 18 did I find out that is was Miyazaki’s first animated movie. It was that movie, and Spirited Away (the movie I seen when I was 18) that made me fall in love with Studio Ghibli…Except My Neighbor Totoro. That movie can spend 1000 years in the furthest reaches of the Duat, then be fed to Ammit to ensure it never has to be viewed by anyone again. Never again.
Miyazaki didn’t have anything to do with Watership Down. It was a British production.
You’re right. I swear someone told me that was one of his movies, or I misheard when they likened the movie to his works. Now I need to rewatch the movie. Either way, thanks for the correction.
It’s amazing how nobody ever talks about just how gross Spirited Away is. Sure caught me off-guard.
The only problem I had with My Neighbor Totoro was that I couldn’t discern a viable reason for the mother being in the hospital. I had the same issue with Bingo in that one Bluey episode.
In MNT it is never gone into but it is assumed to be spinal tuberculosis, as Hayao Miyazaki mother suffered from it
Probably better than that comix with panda. (Ranma ½)
Not speaking about parents who think if it’s animated it’s for small children.
Daniel here. I know what you mean about the “animation is only for kids” pain. My Mum was locked in that mindset for ages. Annoying when you’re an Anime fan. But thankfully she’s slowly realising that’s far from the case…
That said, I HAVE heard of someone getting a box roughly the size of 2 shoeboxes side by side full of….. Japanese Anime of a more adult nature, purely because the relative thought all animated works are only for kids…
You think Amy’s parents made the same mistake when she was younger?
Have you seen any of the Happy Tree Friends videos? Don’t know if there is a real movie. Would be an X rated children’s movie.
you’re right:
I’ve read the Felidae-series about a tomcat who solves dark crimes among the neighborhood cats – totally about cats – definitely not suitable for kids
Oooh, yeah. Francis is cool though.
Their cluelessness regarding history is almost cute, more disconcerting than anything else, to be honest.
I don’t particularly expect you to, but are you planning to do anything special for the 400th strip in a couple weeks? ~
I was thinking of that, but unfortunately, I didn’t time it right and the final strip of the chapter will not be on that number. Maybe I draw something extra for the occasion, though ^^
Probably would be amusing to see do some art of the kids as alternate versions of themselves; you could do the generic gender flip or make them each different kind of hybrids you thought sounded interesting or were considered as part of their design.
Things like making Benji a Badger, Cleo a Cat, Rex as an Akida, Jin as a Baku, and so on.
The Baku is an interesting case; it’s a chimeric creature from Japanese mythology, its description makes it quite the mishmash of animal parts, but the more modern interpretations of the Baku are modeled more on the Malaysian tapir more than its older description. Here’s a link to everything about them on yokai.com, https://yokai.com/baku/
The Greco-Persian War, also known as the Persian War, didn’t involve cats, but during one of the other Persian Wars, more specifically the war between Egypt and Persia the Persians knew of the Egyptian’s reverence for cats to the point that the Egyptians wouldn’t do anything to hurt the cats. So, the Persian cats helped defeat the Egyptians, thus the Kemet-Persian War of the Persian Wars was indeed a war with Persians. Misha and Kaya are somewhat correct, just not in a manner that would have helped the kid and not with the correct bellicose literature.
Yep, Kaya and Misha share a few brain cells…
The note tearing might be unplanned, but was Misha an intended backup by Astrid? Who knows, other than DragonKai/Robin. I wonder how Team Kai is doing and what challenge are they undergoing with Sir Haggis of Fields, could it be the Trials of the Bridge of Death?
Sir Haggis: “Answer these questions three and you shall pass. What is your name?”
Rex: “… Rex Ruthor.”
*Benji and Kai snicker.*
Sir Haggis: *snickering* “What is your quest?”
Rex: “To reclaim Kai and Kaya’s presents that we spent good money on.”
*Benji elbows Rex in the ribs.*
Sir Haggis: “Not the best of wording for that answer, but I’ll let it pass. What is… the air velocity of an unladen swallow?”
*Kai tries to answer but Rex speaks up first.*
Rex: “I don’t know that!” *Rex is suddenly thrown backwards.* “Aaaaaaaahhhhh!” **Crash!!**
*Kai, Benji, Sir Haggis, and the onlookers/peanut gallery look on in shock, mouths agape down to the floor, and eyes bugging out nearly two feet from their faces.*
They made a connection!
Well : during one of the persian-egyptian wars , the persian soldiers were wearing cats as “protective shields” ….. It counts ? ^_^”
The Persians didn’t wear the cats. They gathered them and put them in front of thier army, as well as any other animal they could that they knew the Egyptians worshiped. Persian shields, however, were the ones that wore cats, either painted on or physically tied to the shields. If you feared Bastet’s wrath for killing a cat the last thing you want to do is shoot flaming arrows at an enemy that has one lashed to his shield.
All I can see now is “300” with a cast of cats.
And with all the talk about cats, have we lost sight of the big question? Namely, what exactly is the significance of 4875? Is that a videogame thing?
Reminds me of the EDS cat-herding commercial! 🙂

EDS – Eventually Delivering Sh*t
Unless this is a real book, we may never know.
The protagonist of the book is apparently a cameo paid for by a reader, so I think we can be sure that Ryuji and the Lightning Thief is not a real book. The significance of “4875” in the book is therefore unknown to us. Its significance to Kaya’s quest is that it’s the code to the lockbox that was in the safe.
Looking on Amazon, all I get is the first book in the Percy Jackson series. So yeah, a fictional work of fiction.
Aw, if I am right, this is the first time we see Misha smiling, and she is adorable!!! 😍😍😍
-_-
Seems legit.
Welp. That’s quite a mix-up. ^_^;
Misha is solving every step for Kaya. They need to get away from the library so Kaya, Cleo and Nate can get a chance to participate in the quest. 😉
Kaya solves things by using “The Magic of Friendship!” 🙂 🙂 🙂
I really like the expressions on this page
…especially the change in Misha for the last panel! 🙂
Xerxes had a LOT of fur. Gerard Butler had to stop a lot of times between takes to get the lint roller.
