Looks like my impression that Kaya wasn’t the sort to be embarrassed about such things was wrong.
If it was straight numbers then probably not. Kai saying she is heavier than she aught to be due to eating lots of chocolate is another matter I think.
She’s not embarrassed by the numbers, but her chocolate is in danger xD
Your brother knows your secret, girl;
every Hershey, Nutter, Reese and twirl
(It’s a Brit one thrown in the mix)
and he won’t stop because of eye bricks.
He’s getting information and giving
(although, soon, he may not be living),
Having fun with his own Doctor…
And yours? His joke has rocked her.
Playing off each other well here;
Our Kaya mad and Kai in cheer;
as the Doctors work all their tests
before they meet their next new guests.
Eye bricks. That’s the first time I hear that :p
Thought it made a change from ‘eye daggers’.
Scientist Kai is not wrong, I know from experience 😛
Alright, theory proven, we can go home xD
So she is 7 pounds lighter than her brother. That tail and extra muscle mass for her extra strength are contributing to her extra mass.
Absolutely. Mainly the tail is contributing to it. It’s a pretty big tail after all.
Actually, the estimate is as precise as they want it to be. What it is NOT, is reliably accurate. (Accuracy: however much detail as your answer has, is it correct to that level of detail? Precision: how much detail does your answer have? pi = a bit over 3, is accurate but not precise. pi = 3.14567890 is rather precise but not accurate.)
I see at least one doc is chuckling over how stereotypically these kids are displaying that they are siblings.
Learned something new today xD
Doctor Fern is kind of like Kaya in many ways. Of course she’s gonna chuckle at this xD
pi is actually 3.14159265358979323846 etc.
i know this because i memorized it for some reason.
How the hell do they stand upright? The sheer mass of their tails must play havoc with their center of balance. The tails are repeatedly shown extending way back while they remain completely upright with no counterbalancing at all.
Inertia and other physics basics combined mean it can be far easier to balance the tail without problems. Keeping the tail moving can stop the weight pulling them backwards although the weight would still need to be taken by the legs but they easily have the strength for that.
I’d love to know there potential for gymnastics and martial arts.
Would this make the toddler learning to walk stage easier and quicker to slower?
In thier case thier tails look substantial enough that they could probably rest them on the gound and use them like a 3rd leg for tripod like support in some situations if they needed too.
Rule of funny. They are built like a T-Rex, where the tail should be parallel to the back, and the spine should be parallel to the ground, not upright.
Almost all toons have the tail stick out at a right angle to the spine, totally unrealistic.
The only thing we can do really is ignore the problem.
I am aware that if we’re talking realism, they should be constantly bending forward. That wouldn’t be very appealing, however. It’s an artistic license I take to ignore this fact and draw them how they look good without making it overly silly :p
Never call a girl fat, or else you might get smacked. Though how much chocolate are we talking about?
She eats some chocolate almost daily. Nothing to be alarmed about, but she really likes chocolate :p
Oh, snap.
*puts on abestos raincoat*
She knows better than to torch her brother. He’s also fire resistant, so it doesn’t work as well xD
I don’t understand why Kai is making a crack at Maya’s weight when she is lighter than him.
*Kaya. (Phone autocorrected without me noticing)
No self-respecting sibling would let that get in the way of a good needle.
He sees a chance, he goes for it xD
It’s basically sibling banter :p
Siblings have to do this to each other, it’s a nature thing.
I just noticed Kai’s tail is a bit thicker than Kaya’s, Kaya’s tail actually looks surprisingly lithe when I look at it on this page.
They should be about the same, but sometimes, it’s hard to make everything consistent all the time xD

Robin, I know you have changed the art style over the years but we take this as fairly canon.
That is the only image I can remember where their tails are fairly straight (ish), against their legs
Leg length is about half a person’s height.
Kai’s tail is about 3 times the length of his leg and at least twice as thick as his thigh.
Kaya’s tail is about 3.5 times the length of her leg, though it does appear to taper more towards the tip and be more flexible.
This makes the tails at least 7′ long and given the range of movement, most of it is muscle
About now would be a good time to create a Kai & Kaya AMA Q&A
Considering she’s lighter than him with the “chocolate weight”…what’s his excuse?
Kai is probably heavier because of him being the more athletic one of the two and the fact that muscle weighs a lot more than fat.
Plus it’s actually normal among twins of oposite gender for the male to be heavier due to differences in body composition
no excuse needed to crack a joke at his sister :p
Kai: 148 lb = 658 N
Kaya: 141 lb = 627 N
Both conversions are correct to three significant figures.
I gave the conversions to newtons for the following reason: the *newton* is the metric unit of weight, *not* the kilogram; the kilogram is a unit of *mass*. (1 N = 1 kg*m/s^2 and 1 lb = ~4.44822 N). In other words, Kaya doesn’t *weigh* 64 kg, she has a *mass* of 64 kg.
Fun fact: The customary mass unit is the slug, which is rarely used anymore. Its relationship to the pound is given by the conversion 1 lb = 1 slug*ft/s^2; that means that a 1-slug mass has a weight of about 32.2 lb on Earth. 1 slug = ~14.5939 kg.
Dragons are not flying with their wings. To small for the weight. Some Chinese designs have no wings at all. They levitate. Maybe their tails levitate. 😉
Would of course lead to some wrong weight measurements.
Some people have suggested that dragons fly by producing hydrogen in their bodies to achieve lift.
Containing hydrogen, they incinerate their entire bodies when they die, which is why there are no fossil records 😛
To expand on the general hydrogen producing theory, it would probably only allow dragons to glide. Realistically (ha) the hydrogen would also be used asfuel for the fire breath, meaning a dragon would really only have one good blast at any given time. Using it while airborne would also force them to land soon after to recharge. Hense the Apex predator biology to limit their vulnerability when grounded and flameless.
Eastern levators are a little harder to find a plausible explanation without resorting to magic.
I doubt they could levitate xD good try though :p
Well ; seeing the size of tail , i may say their weight should be close to 15 kgs . So : 52 kgs for Kai and 49 for Kaya’s mains bodies
I bet Kaya will want some chocolate for her hurt feelings, now.
I wonder if the twins have increased energy usage, how much do they eat normal? I know they’ve attempted to eat a whole chicken before.
And Kai getting his own back for the airhead comment.
On the plus side, maybe it goes straight to her tail instead of her thighs.
Another good laugh. If it’s good chocolate, it’s hard to stop.
Hey, I was right. Kaya wasn’t set off by her weight. Insulting chocolate, on the other hand… inexcusable! You’re playing with fire there Kai. Literally. Now, whether Kaya is insulted because he’s trash talking the chocolate or because he’s saying she’s heavier thanks to chocolate, I wouldn’t know. Either one makes perfect sense to set her off, though the latter IS considerably more rude, since it’s basically a variation of calling her fat. Regardless, I like how you found a way to explain the tail weight in-universe for the sake of people who haven’t seen or can’t see the comments. It’s an amazing panel as always Robin. It showcases Kai’s love for messing with his sister and her hot-button trigger of chocolate so clearly. Keep up the good work! And as always, Stay Awesome!
Thanks Alpha 😀 Yeah, Kai can’t pass up this opportunity to mess with Kaya a little :p It’s definitely the chocolate that’s doing it, and not her weight. She’s not embarrassed by the numbers and she knows she’s not fat :p
One way you might be able to get a close estimate on the tail alone might be a hanging scale, such as what’s used at docks to weigh fish or what you might use at a market to weigh produce. Just attach a long sling and carefully adjust the height of the scale so that the sling comes to just under Kai or Kaya’s tail. Then just have whichever twin it is relax and let their tail droop. Might not be completely accurate but it should get close if done right.
LOL I THINK KAI IS JUST DOING THAT TO GET ON HER NERVES JUST LIKE MY FAMILY
Calculating tail weight wouldn’t be that hard if the structure is similar to other lizard’s tails. You just need volume.
To get the volume of an object that is oddly shaped (or attached in this case), you submerge it in water and use the displacement (measuring level increase) to get the volume. Math is easy from there. This method is EXTREMELY common to find the exact fat percentage of a person, so wouldn’t even need to make special equipment. Do a search for water displacement BMI.
