Look but don’t touch
is the order of the day
as the two do battle,
being the first in play.
Two decks of disruption
ranged against the other.
When one is holed first
can they possibly recover?
I think she won the last,
breaking him with her tricks.
You know where this is going…
Welcome to Mikey’s matrix…
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
Which would be better, the blue pill or the red pill? In this case, purple?
2×100 damage? Okay, I’m guessing life points start in the thousands, like the Yu-Gi-Oh card game (iirc), rather than at 20 like Magic The Gathering.
I always wondered why they didn’t just drop the last two zeroes in that game.
Because Japan likes it that way. It’s not just YGO that does it. With rare exception (such as Gundam), virtually all Japanese card games run its numbers high. YGO’s actually weird that they don’t do it as high as other Japanese games, mostly being in multiples of 100 instead of 1000, and allowing multiples of 50 on rare occasion.
Even their licensed ripoff of Magic (Duel Masters) does it. And it’s not just card games. Ever look at the damage numbers in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Capcom vs. Tatsunoko It’s honestly pretty disturbing, especially with CvT which admits the absurdity by using the word “BILLION” and going into decimal places instead of putting all the zeroes there.
Tatsunoko got top billing in the latter.
Starting off with a couple of Matrix themed characters? Interesting. They did say he uses an intangible deck. Wonder if they have the same “calm while solid/snarling & vicious while intangible” attitude like in the movie….
It feels like this tournament will last at least a year.
No, just the first full game. 🙂
Given the average number of pages in a chapter it might already be half finished. 🙂
Though I guess this will be a longer one.
And we have begun. I hope Nora has a good match, and doesn’t run out of cards due to Mikey’s play style.
The (card) battle begins, but who’s gonna win, not knowin’ the dangers that lie with in? This comic is about to go full Yu-Gi-Oh.
So Mikey has a digital ghost theme, that explains the dorky sunglasses. I wonder if Mikey ever thinks he’s living in the Matrix, he’d be close since he’s living in a webcomic. He does seem like he’d be a fan of the trilogy. Hopefully Nora has a way to exorcise these digi-ghosts. More twins for the comic about Dragon Twins.
Why does Nora say their last tournament duel went badly? Did Mikey embarrass himself? Did Nora? Or was it embarrassing for them both? Maybe we should ask Benji for the details…
Dammit, I JUST got E.G.G.M.A.N. out of my head!
My guess, their game ran long. Maybe they didn’t actually finish, and had to turn in numbers based on who was doing the best, rather than who won.
The Matrix Reloaded? Really?
Yup, love that movie ^^
Because it gives you a good, long laugh whenever you need it most?
Eh, I enjoyed the Matrix 2 & 3. Number 4 tho? Yeah, I’ve been known to like movies that others reject, but Matrix 4……… needed a LOT more work…
It had potential, but it flopped hard on the execution….
Thank goodness they ended with a nice round trilogy instead of trying to make a fourth movie.
Yyyyyyyyyyep. Ooooooooonly three.
Love that one too. The highway battle and the hundred Smith fight were just amazing. People might say, “Oh, the special effects look crude” but so do Rey Harryhausen stop motion effects and Godzilla suitmation, but I still love those movies too.
Robin, as someone who’s already been in your situation in the comments section of this webcomic, you have my apologies that your fanbase includes so many [expletive]s who take issue with the idea that you like something they don’t, and think the appropriate response is to mock it.
Are da twins a card dat wins? We’ll see.
To kill digital creatures, hit the computer that’s running them. But how do digital creatures harm material creatures?
In my experience, a slice of lemon wrapped around a gold brick tends to solve most problems
