Nora… you sound *so* uncool right now xD
The grey guy has become the grey ghost
as Nora spins bad luck to good.
What he desired has cost him the most
almost like she knew that it would.
The glass cannon is shattered
by her cunning, put into play.
It’s like her lack of ego mattered
and she played his all day.
I’m not sure it’s over yet;
there may still be a chance
that Mike can rise, to the bet
and, then, make his cards dance..
Oh please gamer gods and goddesses, please let this work!! 🙂
heh; Mikey’s One Weakness… He Is Predictable! LOL
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
Although I would say, she does not lack an ego, only arrogance.
So…
At least with this particular execution, Nora has overruled her bad luck by essentially removing herself from the match. We have yet to see what the next panel will bring, but it certainly sounds effective.
Well played Nora, well played.
Never let your opponent know what you are going to do until the bitter end.
Stone cold. Nora played this like a true King of Games. All we need now is her saying, “And that brings your life points down to Zero.”
“…Down…To…Zero.” 😉
That is one nasty setup! Nora was playing Mikey the whole time, letting him think he was winning.
It might be said that Nora was playing against two opponents at the same time; Mikey and …her own bad luck. I’m so glad to see her defeat both. 🙂
The [Spy Drone] goes “Brrrrrr?” Is it cold or does its rotors need fixing? A noisy drone kind of makes it ineffective for spying if Tue target can hear it.
Uh oh, Nora’s activated evil mode. She’s about to take her pound of flesh and then some. Is Mikey gonna be beaten so badly that his shades will be knocked off? Wait, wouldn’t Nora’s [Spy Drone] be affected by [Mirror World] too? Or does it not work on monsters summoned after the card is played? Or will Nora not order it to attack so she won’t be targeted? Nora is definitely a huge nerd, what with her Death Note reference, though I think her line originated in Death Note Abridged…
Nora’s victory seems assured, but did she use two conflicting plans at once? Is there a flaw in her strategy that she overlooked? Will her bad luck find a way to embarrass her after she kicks Mikey’s buttons turns him into a coonskin cap? I guess we’ll have to find out next time! Possibly followed by a montage of the tournament battles before we cut to Amy and Nora’s duel.
I wouldn’t call the game yet, Nora has a weak link in mirror world assuming it can be removed or countered. If it is then Nora simply loses
By MTG rules (which is all I know), countering would have to happen before [Berserk] got played, so that’s out, and [Mirror World] sounds like the kind of thing that would be put on the bench, which would mean that any removal would have to be un-targeted, so I doubt that it’s going anywhere.
To me, Mirror World sounds like a Yu-Gi-Oh Field spell card, which would be it’s own specific slot, and by old rules at least could be removed by playing a second field card(I think they’ve changed this in modern). Having a spell be on bench(which sound like the Pokemon TCG area you store inactive Pokemon) sounds weird. Then again, it’s really unclear which, if any, of Mikey’s cards are bench cards(and therefore why he protected it at all), so hard to say.
In Magic: The Gathering, that would depend on if [Mirror World] was a spell or an enchantment – spells take effect and are gone, while enchantments stay active. The effect suggests that it’s an enchantment, which would mean that it does affect the [Spy Drone], but none of the wording implies that the [Spy Drone] is doing any targeting, it was played after [Berserk], meaning it doesn’t get caught up in that effect and attack Nora, and it could even be a creature that doesn’t have any attack, meaning it would be safe anyway.
If both Mirror World *and* Beserk aren’t permanent and constantly effecting everyone, I’m unclear on Nora’s confidence. By the stats and health shown, it should take several turns for Mikey to lose, assuming he isn’t low(and Nora wasn’t shown making him so– so her confidence is still weird).
Panel 4: Mayhaps add a comma to “Protect”?
Ouch, Mikey’s going to take some damage…
Go Nora!!! Do it to it!
I think you meant for that to be a comment on its own and not a reply.
I guess you could say that… THIS WAS THE GREATEST PLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
These cards feel a bit too awesome to be in a deck of ‘cards nobody else wants to play’. “All creatures flip targeting” may sound like it would be problematic for everyone, but it’s very much in line with control deck mentality. It’s been a long time since I played MtG, but I do recall having lost to blue decks with no creatures and no direct damage cards. I’m pretty sure taking over my creatures was involved.
Now, that said, I could easily see these cards having some additional drawbacks that she’s not mentioning, because who mentions the drawbacks of their own cards? I kind of recall not even the Yugi OH! cartoon characters do that, except by accident.
While I disagree on drawbacks(I tend to make all effects my cards clear for clarity and fairness– unless that isn’t what you mean), I agree on your first point, none of these sound like cards people wouldn’t run. Heck, so far this sounds like a deck where a kid would get Mirror World in a pack and go “Huh? Weird card. I wonder what combos I could do with this…”.
This is essentially a 4 card combo with little to no available “openers”, that requires your opponent to have permanently stolen one of your cards. In addition, 2 of the cards have reciprocal effects, affecting you just as much as your opponent. And that’s just Nora’s Cards, if we include the cards from Mike’s deck, it’s more like a 7 card combo, with her opponent playing half of Nora’s combo for her.
It doesn’t help that this game appears to be, for all we’ve been informed, effectively Yu-Gi-Oh with MTG’s Mana & System and the attack power of cards SIGNIFICANTLY decreased.
A way to think about it is that [Berserk] looks to me a win-more card, while [Mirror World] is a floodgate that effectively needs you to have an alternate win, or rather lose, condition to actually win.
By win-more, I mean that [Berserk] is only really useful when you have aggressive monsters with more attack than your opponent, effectively relegating it to Aggressive, or Agro-Decks. Except, if those decks have aggressive monsters that are overpowering their opponent, they’re already in a position to win most of the time. Thus, the card is useless most of the time.
[Mirror World], meanwhile, has more promise as a combo card. The issue with it is that it’s easiest win-condition is any card that says “in this situation, you lose the game”, and if [Mirror World] is countered or removed from the board while that effect is resolving, you lose the game. [Berserk] is the safer play with it, but for [Berserk] to work, you need to have an empty board so that you don’t kill yourself.
*slowly claps*
Wasn’t one of Benji’s favourite decks a swarm deck?
You’d almost think that mirror/berserk combo was set up for him.
This trap is so specifik, I think Nora, knowing Mike well enough, set her deck up for him specifically.
Nora; The Anti-Mike!
It must be her all-purpose anti-RNG rabbit deck, because her other one is the baby she especially crafted to defeat Amy (mentioned on the same page)
