Been a while since I thought about that song. One of those ones I never looked for but always seemed to catch on the radio at random times.
Interesting that Jasper is there without Gwen nearby. Those two are usually Velcroed together at the hip.
Well her karaoke score did not hit the floor. I’d say many in the audience are floored though.
This is the moment I realize I have no idea what Karaoke is. I’d thought there’d be a bit more finesse then just screeching into a microphone.
You get a screen with the text (and possibly notes) and background musig. Then you try to sing as the original singer. If it is a soft christmas carol you sing softly, if the singer screeches 40 Os you screech 40 Os. Rather simple.
In that case, her second choice might have been Dream On by Aerosmith.

What is so incredibly hard to understand? This is how the song goes (the real song just have slightly different lyrics) and you try to mimic that by matching the lyrics, tone and timing.
There is even a link to the original song in the info box that you can educate yourself with…..
That was a statement of my unfamiliarity of Karaoke and my assumption that there be more to it then just singing. The statement after that points out that her choice of screaming isn’t particularly tactful.
It doesn’t have anything to do with being easy or hard to understand.
So when the original singer screams parts of the lyrics, do you think they have to undo that fact and sing it as a church choire to satisfy your sensitivity?
No, you sing the song as they do in the original and try to stay as close to the lyrics, tone and rythm as you can. And “screaming” like that is actually pretty hard to do while keeping it on note, especially with her small stature.
I’m also interested in what you think karaoke is if not “just singing”, what do you think it is? A lego building competetition?
Go and try karaoke yourself, it is pretty damn hard, especially for me who sucks ass at singing.
I’m just gonna point back *again* to my original statement of not knowing what Karaoke entailed. When I commenting on her screaming, I was referring to her choice of song, not just the fact she screamed.

Nomi’s cuteness and small stature stands out, but the the audience is in for a huge shock when the adorable little lemur girl starts belting out heavy metal screams. Nomi’s rocking her little heart out, she must have some impressive lungs to hold a note like that. I hope she has a great time singing in this contest and that she’s able to win the money needed for her statue.
Amy continues to have loose lips, given that she just revealed that Nomi is the mysterious Contestant Number 17 to Kai’s group again. How long do you think it’ll be before Amy starts sinking ships? Or at least before Nomi stops telling her anything? I hope “Corpses” buys Kaya enough time to choose her song for the karaoke contest.
Funnily enough my mind jumped to a different “Floor” involved with metal. Am I the only one whom that last panel reminds of the last act of Nightwish’s “Ghost Love Score”? Specifically the first time Floor Jansen performed it at Wacken in 2013.

I can’t help but wonder just how effective Nomi’s mask actually is. Like, I can just barely tell she’s wearing it, but little glasses-wearing lemur is a bloody red riding hood doesn’t seem likely to be obscured by such a tiny mask.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, that mask is doing nothing for her anonymity.
Don’t think it’s been mentioned in comic, but I’m guessing it could be for combating Stage Fright. Put on the mask, have something to hide behind so the audience “isn’t looking at YOU, they’re looking at the mask” kinda thing?
Just a possibility. Cause I don’t see it hiding her identity, murderous Red Riding Hood Lemur Hybrid tends to be a bit distinctive…
Of course, only our esteemed Author can confirm or deny that….
