Well, glad to know it’s the fandom and not the conspiracy theory. And that “reputation” remark suggests that her reason for not wanting to be recognized does NOT have to do with jack@$$ parents/guardians who take issue with her interests, so most of my worries have been assuaged.
Also, SUPER jealous of Clementine right now. Not just because of the ice, but also because she’s apparently small enough to chill out in a drinks cooler. (Or has a big enough drinks cooler to chill out in it.)

Yeesh, that statue sounds expensive! Given how limited edition it is, can’t say I’m surprised. So there’s a cash prize for the contestants who make it to fifth place or above. I hope Nomi manages to win the money she needs, she seems like a sweet and lovable ring tail. I wonder how she compares to Kaya the singing Dragon girl, given how much power Kaya has in her voice (ie she’s very loud). I’m guessing Nomi is planning to sing a heavy metal song based on evidence from supplemental art, but what does Kaya have in mind? And what will Nomi do about Amy’s big mouth?

In the alien franchise, the aliens have a queen. Bishop is a prominent character in the franchise, so the joke is Bishop getting killed by an alien queen, which incidentally can be said as a chess term ^^

I only saw “Alien,” and that was only because Mom wanted me to take her. When it was over; as we walked out of the theater -I- insisted we go next door to the -fun- movie to get Alien out of my head. Never saw any of the rest. 🙂

Alien, Aliens. There was an Alien 3 in the works that like the current streaming series would have had the aliens arrive on Earth (When Ripley catches Burke sneaking the Alien sample onto the dropship it turns out that was not the first one brought aboard). Only the script approval was revokes at the last minute. Confusingly there was a movie called Alien 3 that shared some casting, and more movies with Alien in the title that keep being called Alien movies.
Yes, I’m an Aliens purist, I only recognize the first two movies as Alien movies (Predator 2 as part of the same universe, but since all we ever see is an alien skull trophy I’m not sure I’d call it an Alien movie). I couldn’t understand how Alien 3 ended up the way it did until I read an interview years later that told about the last minute loss of script approval due to change of studio leadership nonsense and the need to have a new and unrelated to the revoked script within single digit days or have not have a movie at all. Suddenly it made sense. I haven’t seen the streaming series, but I’ve heard good things about it and I’ll likely watch it.
We don’t talk about Alien3.
Maybe she can earn a name like Alien Queen. I mean it would have fit for Mina Ashido if her teacher didn’t shoot it down.

Looks like a japanese saw to me. Her costume is possibly based on the same Faerrific Tales as Amy’s.
Yes, a two-edged saw similar to this one.
There are different teeth along the two edges, so it’s two kinds of saw in one.
Amy reminds me of another character, but my brain refuses to tell me who. Kai and Kaya, on the other hand, reminds me of the twin protagonists from the ‘Phenomena’ series, Alk and Ilke.
How about Jessie and James from the Pok-e-Mon tv show? 😉

Ah! I’d be no help there. I barely know any of the Poke-characters; only watched two or three episodes of the tv show and didn’t care for it much. I thought Jessie, James, and Meowth were the most fun. 🙂 Never got into anime-ish games or shows. Most of what I do know is from people like you on chat’s like this. 😉

I’m new to this stuff and don’t have anything to say about the alien queen. but late question. why are the hybrids in customs? you would think with a name like hybrid con it would be like that one monster high movie. humans dress up like their favorite hybrids and hybrids wear their most over the top outfits.
My guess the con is named after the city, not because it is a con about hybrids. We know that there are role playing games and accessories, karaoke and SF-movie franchise. Nothing points toward hybrids specifically.

Well funny enough, there IS a 1992 Limited Edition Xenomorph Queen (This is the PROPER term Nomi!!!) – and in box she is about $200-500. But that was clearly no “In Box” so it’s more around $60-100 even with CoA. This is why collectors NEVER Open the Box!!!
Um… What? The comic clearly shows a statuette in a box. A transparent box, but that’s a necessity to actually be able to see the statuette and confirm it is undamaged and generally allow it to serve the purposes of a statuette.
The Original statue is in a box with the Aliens markings – that means the Clear box is NOT the Original Box, so its value drops considirably since you are taking away part of the Original Piece. Any collector will tell you the Original Box and Piece make it far more worth. That Transparent Box doesn’t mean it’s undamaged either as the stand could have damage beneath it as the piece has it’s OWN stand with pin to help hold it up as the Queen leans forward so much that the weight of her skull piece and chest would cause her to topple forward, thus the pin is thin and presses to the chest and a custom stand she stands on.
Setting aside the fact that damage to the stand would still be visible through the transparent box… you’re telling me that it’s a problem to have a statue – which exists to be looked at – in a state that allows it to be clearly looked at. That allowing something to actually serve its intended purpose somehow makes it “less valuable”.
…I will never understand that sort of jerk. There is literally no logic to it.

Went to an anime forum meetup, we ended up losing at least one of our number in Forbidden Planet, turns out that doing some refinancing back in the mid 00’s takes time. Something about a re-mortgage got mentioned in conversation later.
I love the calendar cover, that is hilarious. The real life Polar soda company only wishes they could get Clementine to model for them! XD

I can understand the feeling. About a decade ago I was at a local con and there was an item in the Charity Auction that I saw and decided I really wanted. I pretty much stopped spending money and when it came up as the second to last item on the auction I started bidding. Soon it was myself and one other guy, and as soon as he would increase his bid I’d immediately raise mine just over his. Happy ending, when I was almost to my limit he looked over and said, “You really want this, don’t you?” When I said I did, he told me and the auctioneer that he’d raise one more time and if I raised again he’d bow out. Fortunately it was close to my next pay check because I was left with only about $5 out of what I brought with me. If he had raised another time I wouldn’t have been able to beat that.
