Rocking the montage,
making the mug;
if Near gets dirty,
Kai gets a hug.
Patience is key
(Kai copes with Kaya)
Sereness trumps
the inner fire.
They have mementoes
of their holiday;
to be sent to base,
whilst they go and play?
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
Well, I guess I can’t dub their mugs “Dis” and “Aster” then…
(the joke’s from the great 1970s British sitcom, “The Good Life” – Barbara Good’s first attempt at making pottery cups did not go as well as these)
Cute!
Looks like Near’s inner cat is coming out.
Clay hands are fun hands! Those mugs look pretty good for a first attempt.
Oh, God, watch out for Near if she’s got a blep going on, it means someone’s getting goofy.
Kai’s definitely gotten lucky with Near, she’s a keeper.
This was cute
Cute, looks like they had fun making their cups.
And the fun is the important part. Success!
Near seems to have some pretty dominant Hybrid instincts if her inner Kitty is being brought out.
Kai and Near are adorable together! I see Near is a mischievous kitty, though thankfully Kai has experience dealing with mischievous girls (*cough* Kaya! *cough*). She’s trying to grab him with her clay covered paws (reminds me of an Otter Hybrid with “mole hands”) and even trying to sabotage his mug, though it doesn’t seem to have been seriously affected. Unless his is the one on the right. Kai is pretty good for a beginner, he’s got the magic manual dexterity (lucky…)!
Hey, wait a minute if Serena is in the pictures, then who’s taking them?!?! XD 😜
I’m thinking Serena took most, but many cameras have a timer feature – set it up, activate it, it waits the preset amount of time then takes the photo. I know I have it on my mobile’s camera. Probably got distracted by the time the timer finished….
Heh. What a couple of mugs.
I know. Just couldn’t resist.
Eh, no big deal. Pretty sure these comment sections have seen more than a CUPle of bad jokes around….
When I saw the page, I hoped it would be named “Mugging for the Camera”, but sadly it was not to be.
An adorable photo craft session!
Guessing they’re each in front of the ones the other made in the last panel.
“Look! I made a mug for you to remember me by!”
“Great! I made one for you too!”
🙂 (-:
Its going to be so hurtful when they need to break up, seeing as the twins are only there for a month and she is also just a tourist. She might live on the other side of the country.
I hope it hurts!
I will be so disappointed if the writer pulls out a silly convenience and says surprise, they actually live in the same city and didnt even realize until later! Dont give me a happy ending. GIVE. ME. PAIN.
But if the sad ending is what you want, then the happy ending would be giving you pain, and the sad ending would be the real silly convenience!
Unless this is reverse psychology, in which case, when Robin attempts to give you pain by denying you the pain you requested, you will know true happiness.
Okay, first of all, frick you. There is nothing wrong with a happy ending, and considering that “same city” is specifically designed to be a place where hybrids can be among other hybrids, that would not be a ‘silly coincidence’ – it’s actually MORE likely than the alternative. And in that event, not having met each other up to this point is FAR more realistic than acting like everyone in Hybrid City knows everyone else in Hybrid City.
Secondly, frick you. A couple does not have to break up just because they do not live in the same city. It’s the 21st century, there is nothing unrealistic about two people being able to stay in contact and maintain their relationship. It has already been established that they both have phones, there’s no reason why they wouldn’t share each others’ contact information and keep in touch.
Oh yes, please do try the LDR. Lets really rage against the dying of the light. The futile desperation of trying to hold onto it in face of all the related struggles. Yes have them try to avoid other relationships until they are 18 and can move together. Only to have a new love interest form despite the intention of only having eyes on each other. The Drama, the Pain! How many years do you think they can survive? Even if they can convince the parents for a yearly visit to italy at the same time.
If you want pain so badly, why don’t you actually go to a work that behaves as though realistic joy and comfort are a problem? They’re not in short supply. There are plenty of people like you who act like there’s something wrong with a good ending, and a good number of them have written, drawn, and directed stories of the type you’re looking for. You could easily find them if you bothered to go looking.
Instead, you come to a story that is – and has always been – focused on people finding happiness in spite of the world conspiring to hurt them, you complain about the possibility of people finding happiness in spite of the world conspiring to hurt them, and when someone points out that the event of these people finding happiness in spite of the world conspiring to hurt them is both (a) perfectly realistic and (b) has everything in place to enable it… you act as though that just means there’s MORE reason for them to be hurt?
At this point, you’re either willfully ignorant, or you’re actively trolling.
thirdly, frick you. btw, what if it’s ambiguous? kai and near are just never seen again, with no explanation?
both simultaneously die in a freak accident
Nah, there was a circus passing through.
an “accident”
They couldnt live without each other! Pull a romeo and Juliet! >:D
kai finds near lying near a half-empty bottle with a skull and crossbones on it. “darn! now that everything worth living for is dead, what else is there to live for (that is still alive)?”, kai thinks. and, of course, kai drinks it. cut to kai also lying motionless next to the bottle.
—–
near wakes up, finding that the bottle is now empty. the label peels off, showing it is actually sleepy juice. “darn! kai stole my sleepy juice! how do i sleepy now?”
Near could be either American or English, maybe Australian. She seems to primarily speak English, which is why I stated those three countries, though Canada is a possible option as well.
The most likely is American, simply because it means that Near could live in the same city as the main cast, potentially going to a different school on the other side of the city. Near’s family could also be doing this trip before moving to the main city of the story, though I’m less confident about that. And they could either do the “accept this as a holiday fling” or the “try a long distance relationship” thing, as well, if Near isn’t from the US.
One date does not even count as them being “together”, so you can’t count it as “breaking up” if they go their separate ways.
D’AAWWWW! They’re adorable! ❤️
I’ve actually managed to make a cup that came out kind of like Nears. Granted I used slab building for it, not wheel throwing, and the glaze didn’t set right so it’s not safe to drink from, but it’s been a loyal pen cup ever since
Yeah, I can’t imagine fur and clay being the best mix. 😅 Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s gonna be a pain to clean off. Good first try, though! 😃
I guess reenacting the pottery scene from “Ghost” is off the table.
Good thing Near ain’t a Snow Leopard Hybrid, or they’d be called “Snep-shots”!
Last minute thought – I’m guessing Serena normally waits until she has enough stock to fill the kiln (the oven the clay is hardened in) to light it, but since those 2 are on a date, would she light it early to get their mugs done quickly…?
…And would she let Kai do the honours, dragon style?
I would like to see that. Technically, the mugs would need to dry for several days before they are put into kiln. But that could be reason for another date or skipped for the sake of the story.
Fair enough, haven’t had anything to do with pottery for decades, don’t know if I ever knew it had to dry out. I just know last time I tried it, I created my creature 1 class and it was ready for painting by the next class a week later….
Huh, that was supposed to be a reply to Baltor, replying to me…
…Joys of modern technology – minor hiccups….
Clay and fur, not a good mix I think. Great for teasing a friend though. As for the glazing and firing, that can be a multi day process and unless she has a small tester kiln for one off pieces there is no way she would fire up the large one for just two items, cost way too much.
