Nothing much to say about the events, except maybe “Rex, learn to accept a gift”. But I am curious about these Faeriffic Tales. Robin, is that (a counterpart of) a real thing, or did you come up with that wholecloth? Because it sounds like something I would be genuinely interested in.
Corollary: there are a lot of bull[badword] works that act like idealistic stories and concepts deserve to be mocked, subverted, and otherwise ruined by pessimistic writers. I have no interest in such works.
It’s a title I made up that isn’t based on anything real. Nomi is a horror fan and I needed something to justify them dressing up as fairy tale characters but in a more horror setting ^^
Well, sign of an excellent writer there – you’ve got in-universe works that are name-alters of real works, you’ve got in-universe works that have no real-world counterparts, and it’s genuinely hard to spot the latter sometimes.
there are some real world media projects with a similar description.. there was a comic series called “Grimm fairy tales” that ran from 2005 to 2016 (with art update reprints from 2017 onwards) that were more horror themed versions of the classic fairy tail stories.. though they were mostly known for their weird writing and fanservicey art. apparently there was an overarcing plotline in them tying everything together and allowing crossovers between tales, though i’ve never actually read any of the comics.
If you are into TV shows, there was that one called Grim that reimagined a bunch of fairy tales into one world. Sadly, ended after 5 seasons or so (don’t remember exact count) but had a decent writing and was pretty interesting.
There’s also “Once Upon a Time”, which is multiple fairy-tale stories in one world that then get magically transplanted onto Earth; the writing can be a bit meh but it’s easy watching.
My thoughts was the Fables comic series, where fairy tape characters had to escape into our world, because of an enemy of unknown origin (at least at the start).
Also, I would had been surprised if her luck had been acted up by giving her an “useless” first place reward…
Too late noticed, that autocorrupt striked again. -.-‘
By the way, TMac, “Once Upon a Time” and the Fables comics starts with a similar concept, but neither one were based on the other, but the “Wolf Among Us” – what is a Telltale game – were took from the Fables comics storyline – actually, that game led me to that series.
I would suggest the comic series Fables, written by Bill Willingham and published by Vertigo Comics. It’s a bit violent at times, but a good read overall.
The Shrek series had characters from a wide variety of fairy tales existing all in the same world. Mostly as cameo characters.
If you would be interested in books along those lines, take a look at Seanan McGuire’s Indexing series (Urban fantasy; X-Files crossed with the ATU Index for cataloging folktales) or Jim C. Hines’ Princesses quartet (Fantasy; Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty as 007-type secret agents). I can probably come up with more, but those two are probably among the most literal about being “a bunch of fairy tales existing in the same world”.
Meh bun suddenly became very happy bun!
looks like this bunny is crushing on the big, not so bad just grumpy, wolf ๐
Oh yeah, ever since we first saw her back in the birthday arc.
So much so that one of my fan fics actually pairs the two of them. Rex can use some bunny lovinโ, he just doesnโt know it yet.
The lucky bunny strikes again;
she has what Rex desires.
Cleo plans to get that box
even if she ignites his fires.
Amy, come and make the deal;
befriend him if you can.
But be careful not to stir the pot
or heโll be the Wolf that ran.
Cleo, please back off a bit;
let Rex be who he is.
The hard working Wolf on court.
The lanky best in the biz.
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
(Because it hasn’t been said yet yet this week)
Aye, I’ve been delayed. This week was very stressful. Thanks for saying it.
Ah, so THAT’S where the “Cleo, no!” “Cleo, yes!” Came from…
Rex, seriously, you need to learn how to accept a gift, you silly old pot…
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a kettle to put on…
Actually, I’m with Rex on this one. Cleo isn’t just gifting; she’s kinda manipulating someone else into gifting. That’s borderline grifting, which is a crime, if I’m not mistaken.
Rex is right to tell Cleo not to interfere in someone else’s choices of who to give what gifts. I understand that Cleo may have good intentions, but as the saying goes, “The road to Hell is *paved* with good intentions.”
I believe I’ll have to disagree.. ๐ Cleo did not -tell- Amy who to give it to, nor even give her a name, yet. She’s just telling Amy that she does -have- a suggestion -if- Amy wants it. (…and I hope Amy wants it, whether she ends up actually giving it to Rex or not. ๐ )
That’s a good point. I still think it’s very obvious (and wrong) what Cleo is doing, but I do understand what you’re saying, and I’ll admit that I hadn’t considered things from this POV.
Everypony has a POV, and they are not always the same. Actually; more than one POV can be “right.” ๐
Christmas just came early for the lucky bun! XD
No Team Rocket motto this time, but Kai looks happy that he was at least able to work in a “That’s right!”
A little ear twitch? I guess we know Amy’s tell now.
Uh oh, looks like Amy’s about to burst from excitement! Will she be able to keep her internal squeeing from leaking out? She’s been granted an unusual lucky chance (one outside of games of chance), but will she blow it? Rex doesn’t have it in him to accept such a luxurious gift, not even with Cleo needling him. Perhaps Amy can clarify that she has extra of these sets?
So Amy is the March Hare, from a fairy tale-based horror game. I can see Nomi is Faerrific Tales’ version of red riding hood, so is River also dressed up as one of the characters? I wonder which one… Who would make a better Team Rocket duo, Amy and River or Kai and Kaya?
And I see Amy is getting starstruck again by Rex’s presence.
Who’s kaya romero dressed as
Team Rocket’s Jessie from the first quarter-century of the Pokemon anime, how could you not know that?
Easy; I didn’t/don’t care for Pok-e-mon, and don’t watch it. ๐
Kind of a strange question, since the answer is always going to be “I didn’t watch that show.”
There are plenty of things which are referred in other media SO much that even not watching the show is not excuse. Team Rocket however isn’t one of those. Pikachu, maybe.
Amy’s little ear twist is so freaking cute oh my gosh
Looks like someone has a hard crush on Rex, no?
You must be new here, welcome to the club! Amy’s crush on Rex was established during the birthday chapter.
So Amy has a crush on Rex, a wolf hybrid, and Nora is the girlfriend of Benji, a dog hybrid. Both rabbit hybrids being with or wanting to be with a canine hybrid.
Coincidence? Or is there something to that?
Canines are known for their loyalty? Coincidence?
Yeah, that’s all I got….
The REAL reason dogs chase rabbits. ๐
In the second panel, Amy’s little patch of black fur is giving her a bit of a sly expression, if I imagine that black fur patch as being part of her eye itself.
Was that intentional?
๐ Looks more like a wink to me. ๐
A sly wink, then, lol. My reason for thinking sly is how her smile is cockeyed.
Quite possible! However; that smile in the last panel says (to me) that Rex knocked that slyness right out of her, and he doesn’t even know it. ๐
