Nothing much to say about the events, except maybe “Rex, learn to accept a gift”. But I am curious about these Faeriffic Tales. Robin, is that (a counterpart of) a real thing, or did you come up with that wholecloth? Because it sounds like something I would be genuinely interested in.
Corollary: there are a lot of bull[badword] works that act like idealistic stories and concepts deserve to be mocked, subverted, and otherwise ruined by pessimistic writers. I have no interest in such works.
It’s a title I made up that isn’t based on anything real. Nomi is a horror fan and I needed something to justify them dressing up as fairy tale characters but in a more horror setting ^^
Well, sign of an excellent writer there – you’ve got in-universe works that are name-alters of real works, you’ve got in-universe works that have no real-world counterparts, and it’s genuinely hard to spot the latter sometimes.
there are some real world media projects with a similar description.. there was a comic series called “Grimm fairy tales” that ran from 2005 to 2016 (with art update reprints from 2017 onwards) that were more horror themed versions of the classic fairy tail stories.. though they were mostly known for their weird writing and fanservicey art. apparently there was an overarcing plotline in them tying everything together and allowing crossovers between tales, though i’ve never actually read any of the comics.
If you are into TV shows, there was that one called Grim that reimagined a bunch of fairy tales into one world. Sadly, ended after 5 seasons or so (don’t remember exact count) but had a decent writing and was pretty interesting.
I would suggest the comic series Fables, written by Bill Willingham and published by Vertigo Comics. It’s a bit violent at times, but a good read overall.
The Shrek series had characters from a wide variety of fairy tales existing all in the same world. Mostly as cameo characters.
Meh bun suddenly became very happy bun!
looks like this bunny is crushing on the big, not so bad just grumpy, wolf 😉
Oh yeah, ever since we first saw her back in the birthday arc.
The lucky bunny strikes again;
she has what Rex desires.
Cleo plans to get that box
even if she ignites his fires.
Amy, come and make the deal;
befriend him if you can.
But be careful not to stir the pot
or he’ll be the Wolf that ran.
Cleo, please back off a bit;
let Rex be who he is.
The hard working Wolf on court.
The lanky best in the biz.
Ah, so THAT’S where the “Cleo, no!” “Cleo, yes!” Came from…
Rex, seriously, you need to learn how to accept a gift, you silly old pot…
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a kettle to put on…
Christmas just came early for the lucky bun! XD
No Team Rocket motto this time, but Kai looks happy that he was at least able to work in a “That’s right!”
A little ear twitch? I guess we know Amy’s tell now.
Uh oh, looks like Amy’s about to burst from excitement! Will she be able to keep her internal squeeing from leaking out? She’s been granted an unusual lucky chance (one outside of games of chance), but will she blow it? Rex doesn’t have it in him to accept such a luxurious gift, not even with Cleo needling him. Perhaps Amy can clarify that she has extra of these sets?
So Amy is the March Hare, from a fairy tale-based horror game. I can see Nomi is Faerrific Tales’ version of red riding hood, so is River also dressed up as one of the characters? I wonder which one… Who would make a better Team Rocket duo, Amy and River or Kai and Kaya?
