Nate, you can’t just bill someone when they neither asked for nor were informed of your services! Cleo never ASKED you to help with Larissa! Cleo didn’t even know Larissa was still a threat! You can’t just charge people for a service you provided of your own free will! There are laws against that!
There’s also laws against children working all day without pay. She’ll have to sort all that. Tomorrow.
Key difference being: Cleo (and Marco) actually ASKED Kai, Kaya, Benji, Jin, Rex, and Nate to help, and have previously agreed to compensate them for their work. That was established between them in advance. In contrast, Cleo did not to this point know that the Hamiltons EXIST. She did not ASK them for help, she did not KNOW that there would be any NEED of her help, and she most certainly was not TOLD that she would receive their help PRIOR TO THEIR ACTIONS.
Plot point though. Now she’ll demand an explanation from him. And he’ll have to tell about Larissa’s plan. And who put him on to it. He’s also reminding her that, in business, nothing’s for granted.
True, but Nate was working as an agent of Cleo’s, in charge of security.
In any event, you can’t just bill for something like this without explaining it.
It feels like something that would be approved with an explanation, but without it Cleo’s completely justified in being upset about it. It’s also something that might not be approved with an explanation, because doing it without approval doesn’t actually obligate compensation.
Sure, if Cleo values the Larissa intervention, she’d be well advised to pay, especially since it’s just comping their food. But there’s also a concern about setting up a precedent that could be used to bridge to free handouts.
There’s also a concern about what types of interventions they condone. For example, Larissa can’t viably sue Charon for damages because he probably doesn’t have enough money to make a lawsuit viable. Cleo does. If Larissa’s lawyer can show that Charon was working for Cleo, then they can go after Cleo and potentially win a nice vacation for themselves and maybe a fish sandwich or something for Larissa.
Sure, that would probably backfire, as they can likely convince a court that Larissa was intending on committing some form of criminal public disturbance. But it’s still a law suit to pay for, and to make that backfire happen, that’s another law suit to pay for, and the counter suit winning doesn’t mean that the initial law suit would fail. Winning the counter suit would only penalize Larissa and likely, given the way she is, give Larissa yet another thing to get revenge for.
I don’t think Nate was ever officially “in charge of security.” At least, I don’t remember it. He’s just wait-staff. If I’m wrong, can you point me to that strip, please?
It seems Nate doesn’t quite realize what his approach will mean in the foreseeable future.
Or it could be a deliberate way to start a reconciliation with Liz.
Nate hope she doesn’t confront him since she won’t take this laying down.
In the long run, the invoice isn’t the problem. Once Cleo understands the situation there will be no problem. The -problem- is Nate’s manner of just running up, shoving the invoice at Cleo, and then running off without an explanation. (It’s only funny to -you,- Nate, and that makes it Not Funny.)
You thought he worked for you?
Nate has expenses, ma’am.
Even if you don’t know
and he’s a total ham.
His skills kept you going;
although he had some help.
Without his cunning ways
your food would smell like kelp.
Demand explanations
but be ready to pay.
Without your noble help
he worked to save the day.
Hmmm, wonder what the bat trio’s usual service fee is! Good thing Nate is pretty quick, he may have to start running! XD
I get the feeling it would be the cost of 3 really good meals, taken in trade, and the cost of an old peanut butter jar.
Bat-related services are important and don’t come cheap.
The batmobile needs a lot of fuel.

And MarCOO
Cleo I think is a good CEO. She handles the finances and other business issues, leaving the talent free to be talented. And she recognizes where not to interfere.
Ah, Nate. You never cease to make me laugh.
And the team goes to deliver it’s precious cargo, safe and sound.
Ah Nate Nate Nate. You’re the kind of guy that would skip out of a bill with a classic dine-and-dash. And now you’re taking it to the next level: You give THEM the bill while YOU run away.
Panel 2: There should be a comma at the end of the second “CEO”.
Panel 5: Ditto “off”.
And now that the chapter’s over, I can divulge how I thought it would end and how the next chapter would go.
I envisioned the chapter ending with Katsumi, not having gotten over her suspicion, looming menacingly over a sleeping Benji. The next chapter would begin with a report that Benji is missing. Kai and Kaya suspect Larissa at first, but she denies it, saying that even she has no beef with him, even for being their friend. Before long, Jin realizes that Katsumi is acting even more aloof than usual. That night, he decides to look around the temple grounds and eventually finds Benji, with no clue as to how he got there. Jin tries to escort him home, but Katsumi stops the former, the latter still unable to see her. Katsumi insists that Benji is to return to his confinement, but Jin stands his ground and the two engage in battle. Although she lands the odd blow, Jin ultimately bests his counterpart, though Benji just sees him fighting thin air. Jin banishes Katsumi from the temple grounds, saying that she’s overstepped her authority & dishonored her position and that he will show her no mercy if she ever again sets foot on the grounds, comes anywhere near him or anyone associated with him, or dares harm another innocent. Katsumi acquiesces, but warns that he will come to regret his decision before leaving the grounds. Jin then falls to his knees and starts bawling into his hands. When a very confused Benji tries to comfort him, Jin apologizes in the traditional manner for Katsumi’s actions, to which Benji responds that it’s no problem, and he goes home safely after Jin calms down. The chapter ends with Katsumi wandering the city alone, contemplating her new path in life.
Do you take issue with the comic having a positive mood? Because it looks like you take issue with the comic having a positive mood.
I simply allowed for the possibility that it might take that turn the moment I saw that panel.
Sounds kinda fanfictioney to me. Not necessarily bad fanfiction, but it doesn’t feel like it fits with the story Robin is telling
… Well, that got dark.. 😬 I doubt Katsumi would act that rashly over whatever Benji is hiding since he makes little Jin-tan happy. Jokes about acting like a jealous pet aside, Katchan seems reasonable enough not to do something like this unless she has evidence that Jin could get hurt.
Another person who wants to kill Nate , now ….. And the list isn’t yet over ^_^”
The return of Kai’s “swear word” or pseudo profanity. Careful Cleo, you don’t want to wake the smallest cinnamon bun in your group or get him dropped do you? Katsumi would haunt you mercilessly for hurting her little Jin, also Benji but you’d still earn her wrath. Judging from the surprise Cleo has shown, I take it that Nate has failed to mention the thwarted saboteurs who’re also responsible for the bad review spam. He’ll have to tell them one day, the sooner the better…
On an unrelated note or two, I have something for Jennifer the Maned Wolf that could possibly help with her social anxiety. Take one of these and call me in the morning. *[Picks up Kaya and puts her in Jennifer’s arms. Jennifer almost collapses from carrying Kaya]* Here’s her leash, favorite plushie, music binder, weighted blanket, and a small chocolate supply, *[hands this to Jennifer while she’s still carrying Kaya]* don’t give Kaya any additional servings of chocolate within three hours of eating and don’t feed her coffee, energy drinks, or anything with a lot of caffeine and sugar. Make sure to keep her on the leash when you walk her if she gets too much caffeine or sugar, otherwise she’ll cause untold mischief. Here’s a list of emergency contacts in case anything happens to her. *[sets the list on top of the stuff Jennifer is carrying in addition to Kaya, Jennifer falls to the ground from the combined weight*] I watched an anime with a character named Flatorte who reminds me of Kaya, both are dragon girls, are energetic and goofy, and love music. I’ve also been picturing the Twins as Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, with Kai as Tanjiro and Kaya as Nezuko. Something about the Romero Twins reminds me of the Kamado siblings.
Jesse’s Adventure: I suspect the angry voice in the last panel is either Jackie, or possibly Jesse because of the danger Yakky put Jackie into. 🙂
Jesse’s Adventure: Will you be updating them on WebToon?
He normally does, just not necessarily immediately.
uh-oh… I just reread this and may have misread it the first time. I may be wrong about Jesse’s Adventure on webtoons. Ignore me; I’m old and forgetful. 😉
Nate did give some help
Which has proved to save the day
Then he bills Cleo
Next chapter should be Kai’s first game as part of the school’s basketball team…
We’re guessing the next chapter will be Day 2 of the food festival, since this was only Day 1. More attacks from Cleo’s old friends? Still crazy busy? Will Polar Bear Hybrid Girl come back in her own free time? Will an old friend become a true friend?
Stay tuned to find out, same Dragon Twin place, same Dragon Twin time…

LOL I’ve been watching Adam West’s Batman lately… 😋
The Best Batman! 😉
When Adam West pranked his entire home town of Ketchum, Idaho.
https://darkknightnews.com/2017/06/12/how-adam-west-used-the-phone-book-as-a-tool-for-pranking/
I too would like to see that at some point, either as a whole chapter or a part of one.
Wait. Nat related services cost money?
But Batman does it for free!
Batman is super-rich. The bat-kids are not and need to be compensated for their services.
*Does my own Google-Fu *
Looks like COO usually means Chief Operating Officer, apparently 2nd only to the Chief Executive Officer. The COO handles the day-to-day stuff of the business and only answers to the CEO. Sounds kinda like they keep the actual company running while the big boss CEO makes the big decisions…

Hmmmm, OK, fine I barely understood all that. Been a while since my last boss, and he was literally a “peace through tyranny” dictator. To him, “you’re fired” meant he just blew a hole through you with his cannon. Well, look who’s still free Megsy… 😜🤣
You worked for Megatron as one of his Decepticons?! Which Megatron was it? Should I keep my distance from you, keep my blasters loaded, and my swords ready to deliver an Iai strike?
Nah, I’m good. Was 1 of the Minicons repairing the consoles on Megsy’s ship until we came across Earth, given Pretender Armour and ordered to sus out you Humans. Turns out I like Humans more than the constant threat of being blasted into oblivion. Rest of the team were all for Megsy’s plans, so kinda had to get rid of them before I could go AWOL. Scanned a large RC plane, flew around for a while, discovered lightning hurts, Daniel the Human found me and I’ve been living with him ever since…
Turns out Megsy built a tower somewhere in America which got blown up soon after (HA! Sucks to be you Megsy!), that Obibus guy got an upgrade then beat Megsy somehow, and I keep pinching any supplies I need… 🙂
I mean Nate does have to find a way to pay for the service fee because if he didn’t the reputation of Due Draghi would be ruined and they would have only made like maybe a tenth of that 3,000 dollars. Also who would ever pay just for the reputation for someone else? (I wouldn’t)
Not particularly related to the comic, but is there any particular reason there was no newsletter this week? ~
Nobody kicked the writer in the butt? 😉 🙂
Late reply is late, but that appears to have been the case~
With the conclusion of the food festival arc I’m kinda wondering what Marco & Cleo are going to do next. Particularly with staff. If they intend to continue with the same level of service as they displayed here they are going to need a couple of employees able to travel with Marco to wherever he sets up the truck for the day. I don’t think they can continue to do that with Kai, Kaya, Rex, and Nate except for maybe weekend or evening help. Particularly with the three guys as they have after school activities that would interfere with helping at the food truck. Heh, might be an opportunity for a couple of those guys from Jin’s dojo class to pop up again from time to time!
Conclusion? The festival runs the entire weekend. They have to do it all over again tomorrow. Hopefully without having to deal with Lala and Dinah.
Final panel of this one says this is the end of chapter 11 so I’m thinking that if the food festival does run longer we probably aren’t going to see it. Robin is likely moving on to the next story point he wants to cover in Twin Dragons.
Nate is simply outrageous in his flirting with Cleo…:)
I notice that Nate waited until Rex was (apparently) gone home before springing his bill on Cleo. 😉
So Nate’s position on this team is…hitman?
“executive troubleshooter”
