Sheesh, Larissa, ease of a little, will ya? Can’t you see he’s sorry? I’m really thinking she needs to take a chill pill and get some therapy or something. She’s getting to be way out of control at this point.
I’m really liking these bat hybrids.
Larissa might have anger issues xD
That’s like saying the sun ‘might’ be a little hot…
They might be bats, but she’s clearly the batty one.
You want to help her up, young sir,
or escape with your wings intact?
Because it seems her wrath
is merely a matter of fact.
Charon crashes onto the scene
and Nate’s suddenly nowhere near?
Truth be told, with her anger,
it’s often best to disappear
If Lala has some redemption
it seems she doesn’t hit young kids.
She might just find it’s ‘not’ his fault
that her plans have just hit the skids…
Definitely escape with the wings intact xD
Larissa would’ve probably beat the stuffing out of Charon with his own arms after tearing them out. She’s kind of a psycho like that.
She should take a hobby then where she could act all her fantasies in a safe environment, like playing Dwarf Fortress adventure mode.
She had the opportunity. (Panels 1&2) She didn’t touch him. I find that interesting. It’s most likely because they’re in public but there still exists the possibility that she won’t hit a child.
She was being restrained
Well, looks like I owe an apology to everyone who was calling him Charon.
More importantly – devoting an entire page to Larisa being angry at someone for (as far as we know) a complete accident that they’ve already apologized for does an excellent job of crushing the last bit of hope that she could possibly be redeemed. Enjoy Pandaemonium, you bloody psychopath!
Wait… There was still hope for Larissa? xD
We have lots of “hopes” for Larissa… 😉
Not as far as I was concerned, but I have seen a few comments this chapter from people who thought she could still get a redemption arc. Me, I’m half-expecting a hellhound mythical hybrid to show up and beat her down as the closest thing we’ll get to on-screen damnation.
How about a “Demon” Mythical Hybrid, who’s Hybrid abilities noticeably mirror those of the Xenomorph ((Alien)) movie’s main enemies… 😛
Daniel the Human comes up with a lot of OCs – Original Characters. He likes reading this, so of course his brain made some OCs for it, including a Human girl who goes to the same school as the Twins & a “Predatory Demon” Hybrid who has been known to take bullies down a notch or 2. He doesn’t go to their school, he’s an Aussie who does remote learning when his Dad’s work brings him to Hybrid City, but he definitely knows Nate & a few other similar people (don’t want to donk the wrong person) plus he has similar strength to the Twins except he actually exercises & trains…
Think if he had the money, Daniel the Human would throw a bit in the Patreon piggybank, maybe enough to get a background appearance, but I don’t think he has that kinda money. I do kinda break a lot of stuff… 🙁
Hope springs eternal. But I feel like Larissa needs more help, not only than I can provide, but more than anyone I’ve met could provide.
Well, not a whole lot of hope, but one can always hope for a chance to be hopeful, right?
But I think as grumbly as big sis was with Charon Larissa may be stepping in the fragrant stuff. Siblings in my experience don’t extend threatening privileges over siblings for very long without reason. I will not be surprised if Trix is soon giving Larissa an earful.
Don’t understand how Robin had the gumption to NOT name him Bruce. Well, Charon is a nice classical name.
At some point, Larisa is going to end up being inside some sort of institution.
Big sis probably likes Fern Gully, amirite? (Shirt says “BATTY”)
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/ferngully/images/1/16/Batty_Koda.png/revision/latest?cb=20160716060313
Also, I can’t help but notice a distinct lack of the fishy bag in all the panels.
It could also mean ‘insane’, apparently.
Like ‘You drive me batty’
It’s a british thing, apparently :p
Roy Batty, “mad king” was the leader of the runaway replicants in Blade Runner.
Batty is fairly common slang for ‘crazy’ in the U.S. too. “Ferngully” is a good reference, but the ‘batty = crazy’ is more widely known. (I haven’t seen Ferngully in over 30 years!)
Haven’t seen Ferngully in over 30 years? Uh that would mean you’ve never seen it since it came out in 1992, making it 30 years old this year!
Ah well; it was an “approximation”. 😉
Daniel here. Yeah, “batty” means “crazy” Down Under too. And I thought it was a Fern Gully reference too. For those haven’t seem Fern Gully, Robin Williams voices a bat who has just escaped from a Biology Lab (back in the 90s) who’s a little mentally worse for wear mentally as a result. It might be a kids movie, but I still recommend it for Robin Williams’s performance…
Here’s a taste of it, in the form of the “Batty Rap”, movie version. There is a full version but that’s a bit more Adult orientated, considering some of the jokes slipped in there… https://youtu.be/W0NUE8yrQFA
Robin Williams was a genius.
He made so many characters just outright fantastic, Genie from Aladdin being probably the most famous one.
But there were many more.
“Gravity works!” is the only line I remember from the movie. 🙂
“Red light! Ding! Red light again! IMMEDIATE CLEARANCE; REQUEST IMMEDIATE CLEARANCE! OHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
Batty’s entrance into Fern Gully starts with this. My sister and I watched it many times…along with the other 100 or so VHS tapes we had.
Something makes me to think that Larissa loves hybrids less and less ^_^
I bet the bag is still intact : the witch holding it high during the “meeting” . What Nate will do next to counter , now ?
Yeah, Larissa isn’t the biggest fan of hybrids xD
Was she ever a fan?
And with that Larissa unintentionally invented a new extreme sport, The Skaters Bridge Jump. Of course she is going to get no credit for it and no royalties from Spike TV.
It’s called Paramount Network now.
Might not want to take credit for such a sport xD
Boy man, once that temper of Larissa’s gets going it don’t like to stop! Also one more page where the fate of the jar is left uncertain (Robin you tease). Charon and Trix, wonder if we’ll see the third one before long and learn his name. Also will we see them with Nate later, maybe treating them to ice cream for a job well done?
Larissa’s temper doesn’t have brakes. It either comes to a halt eventually or Larissa holds her foot on the gas xD
“I’m sorry, lady.”
Larissa’s a lady?! I thought she was a female psycho! Someone should probably correct Charon on his mistake, preferably outside of Larissa’s striking range and with a clear escape route.
A survey? But how can you be so cruel as to force us to choose???!!!
Because if I don’t, everyone just picks the entire main cast + Jin xD
Larissa has a pretty rotten personality, just how did her life take her on that trajectory? While there are still hopes for her to change into a better person, I don’t it’s all that likely. Short of court-mandated activities to atone for her transgressions, I don’t think any punishment will stick.
My opinion? She had a ‘friend’ to leach off of since kindergarten, she probably acted like a normal, content kid around her family because she had another way of getting what she wants. This eventually developed into a possessive attachment to Cleo, making sure that she was only part of HER group. Kaya’s interference with that outlook was probably the first time in her life that something she thought she could control didn’t go her way, this usually results in an anger response and a need to regain control by any means necessary. She’s since been spiraling deeper into that cycle.
That’s likely one of the most notable contributing factors, but there are other factors that fed into it in this particular direction that we haven’t seen yet but suspected were there up until now. Her home life being one of those.
I didn’t speculate on that since we didn’t have much info to go on. Not enough for me to draw a plausible conclusion out of anyway
It’s complicated and will be revealed little by little in the future 🙂
So she hasn’t always been a sociopath with a rotten attitude and temper to boot? Hard to believe…
I notice that the bag with the jar isn’t visible anywhere on this page. We can see both of Larissa’s hands, and they’re no longer holding anything. Nate isn’t visible either. What’s the chance that he and the jar will both be gone when Larissa or Dinah next think to look for them?
We don’t see Larissa’s left hand, and that -was- the one holding the sack and jar. 😉 (In the 2nd panel we see both of Dinah’s hands, but only Larissa’s right hand.) And we -don’t- see Nate either. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. 🙂
Trix is doing a great job of (over)acting in that 5th panel too. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Hmm, yes that could actually be Dinah holding Larissa’s hand in panel 2. It’s not clear who that hand is attached to.
Dinah has a slightly darker skin tone than Larissa does; that’s definitely her holding Larissa’s hand.
Daniel here. Yeah, definitely Dinah using both hands to pull Larissa’s right arm & help her to her feet. No sighting of the left hand/arm other than the shoulder & a few centimetres of arm skin. No visual on the bag either. Or Nate. It IS noticeably possible both the bag & Nate are missing from the shot for the same reason, even if he didn’t plan for this to happen (his smirk at the end of last page makes me think he did) he’s smart & quick thinking enough to grab it & slip away…
Yes, the second panel shows both arms. As you said, Nate seems to be missing.
Upon further review, one of the arms in panel two belongs to other girl. So Larissa’s left arm is missing in all panels. Bag status unknown.
I like that possibility! Odds on him tossing it in the nearest available trash bin or ducking into an alley to put it in a dumpster? Be the best way to get rid of it and put it where it belongs.
Well, her left arm isn’t visible in the page, so we don’t know yet :p
I like that “we”. Means you’re including yourself in the not knowing. 🙂
OK, then we can instead see that Dinah isn’t holding any churros in panel 2. Maybe Nate has absconded with those? :-Þ
Don’t tell a skater to “go skate of a bridge”… they will take it as a challenge o.O
Trixy will stop him, no worries xD
Charon seems to be a “no human hair” hybrid.
Yeah, he’s just fuzzy on top xD
I didn’t realize he was 12 or under.
He’s 9 ^^
Calling it now…. Nate paid the kid to crash into her, and during the fight/argument grabbed the bag with the fish guts and absconded with it in order to neutralize the threat. Next comic she’s gonna realize it.
Yeah most of us are pretty sure they are working together. Seems to be going good so far too! Now so long as Nate can get away clean with the bag Larissa’s plan may be ruined. I just hope that doesn’t cause her to resort to something more extreme, she’s already getting pretty mad here in this one!
Daniel here. Even if they aren’t working together, I can see Nate thinking quick enough to grab the bag and slip away quietly…
I was calling Charon “Bruce”, because why not. But Nate seems to have Bruce Wayne’s mentality. He is said to have a box for all of his fellow super heroes with the means to stop them in it.
So the phone call was to Trix, who Nate knows form high school, or maybe Trix and Charon’s big brother is on the basketball team with him.
Larissa is either going to get some sort of tragic backstory to explain her rotten personality, or she’s going to end up on the wrong end of a fight and get her derier handed to her/landed in prison.
I do see Larissa serving time as a very real possibility once she’s just a couple of years older. That temper of hers is going to get her in major trouble one day if she doesn’t get a better handle on it.
“I(n) today’s comic, Larissa is showing off her good side again xD”
She has a good side? 🤨
Ask I have to say is that Trix is freaking hot.
It seems like if a family gets one Hybrid, the next kid most likely be the same kinda hybrid, since we are seeing two Bat hybrids here.
Or can it be different between sibling hybrids?
There’s a lot about the human genome even in the real world that seems to have function. Many of the “garbage” sequences in the genome don’t directly code for working proteins, but they do handle expression and regulation of genes, perhaps even serve as “software” for cutting and pasting bits and pieces of expressed genes to produce additional functions. The hybrid phenomenon is likely something in those sequences. It’s like using DNA as object oriented programming.
As much as we’re all being mad at Larissa for not accepting the apology from Charon easily, remember he DID run full speed pretty much into her breasts, not only violating her but it probably hurt a bit too. I’d be easily riled in that case, too.
(not that i’m making excuses., I’m not a fan of hers either!)
Yes. While Larissa is in the wrong about the whole Cleo thing, it is actually reasonable to be angry over getting rammed like that.
So, I guess this makes Trix……
Batgirl.
I’m here all week folks.
>:)
Question, Robin: these two seem like siblings, if children are hybrids, are siblings usually the same type of hybrids like these two?
And how about cousins?
That’s been asked before, it’s common for hybrid siblings to be the same species, but a mix of hybrid species or hybrid and non hybrid siblings are possible
Ah, i must have missed that comment, thanks!
There is also a 3rd sibling; we just haven’t seen her yet. She has been seen in the Sunday art streaming sessions a couple of times. I am 99-44/100% sure she is also a bat hybrid, and in between Trix and Charon in age and battyness.
It’s a good my predictions from last week didn’t come true, that would have been brutal! Of course, Trix came just in time to prevent her poor baby brother from being beaten over the head with his own skateboard by Larissa. She shouldn’t call little Charon a punk when he accidentally crashed into the boobs of Larissa, it was more dangerous for him than said sociopath since she’d retaliate both rather gruesomely and disproportionately. And as for Larissa, you weren’t ran over, you were ran into. If you were ran over, the little bat would more or less still be standing and you’d have wheel treads pressed into you. Charon would have to be bigger than you to qualify as running you over, you should really not be so angry over an accident… Or was it?
By the way, Nate seems to have disappeared along with the jar. Did he plan for this distraction or is it the universe’s way about f telling Larissa to back off? Possibly both…
A little clue here about this world : we have here what I supppose to be a young boy with his big sister. And the both of them are hybrid, same specy. Obviously, even without being twins, there is a genetic connection.
Robin has talked about that elsewhere; if one child is born a hybrid, their sibling may be the same type of hybrid, a different type of hybrid, or ordinary human.
Also, the singular form of “species” is “species”.
Mythical demon and angel hybrids would be cool
Crazy twist – The Demon Hybrid/s are instinctively “big brother/sister” protective types, despite looking demonic, while the Angel Hybrid acts all divine & pure, but really is worse than Larissa here… 😛
Typhon would be interesting falling into both mythical monster and Greek god category’s.
A hybrid based on Typhon would likely confuse the doctors initially.
Then again, skin walkers or changelings could be hard to tell they even are hybrids.
There is a lot of potential though unfortunately can’t fit all of it in one comic.
I’d like to see a dolphin even if it’s just a background character.
Maybe they could get a job training “real” dolphins at Seaworld! 😉
His next text box should be something along the lines of: “I take it back. I’m not sorry. You deserve every bad thing that ever happens to you.” Walks away.
“Apologize to the Karen, or she’ll get the manager.”
Larissa does seem extremely like Karen her tone, looks, expression, and clothes. Also Larissa and Trix have similar hair just wanted to point that out.
