Yay! Jin is included!
Yay! Jin is going to be included!
Sorry, my phone glitched…
Of course! Can’t leave the good boy out xD
I figured Jin would be involved. I thought as like a boss they have to deal with to get the Clue or Presents. This will be fun. Also, guess God is a Goat in this universe.
*Hopes and Dreams Intensifies*
Yes, but having them actually need to fight Jin when they have not been shown to have actual fighting prowess seems like it would be unfair.
Sure, they are incredibly strong and incredibly tough, but Jin’s martial arts style is all about demonstrating that those two traits are not all that necessary in combat, along with size. The twin’s natural abilities certainly give them an edge against Larissa, but not against Jin. The fact that there are two of them and only one of him is probably more of an advantage for them, despite the fact that Jin demonstrated being able to defeat multiple grown men trained in his same style of martial arts. (To be clear: more of an advantage does not mean it would necessarily be enough of one to actually defeat him. Until they have training, I simply do not see them defeating Jin in combat. Good thing they probably don’t have to.)
Daniel here…
Yeah, they wouldn’t be able to win a physical battle against Jin. The Twins may be stronger than an average adult despite only being 15, but they haven’t shown any sign of knowing how to fight. That said, I wouldn’t completely write off their combat skills, since they were considered “Demons” back in their old town, I can see a few kids having a go at them with their parents “looking the other way”, then blaming the twins when the kids loose. Heck, THAT’S what happened to me too many times and I’m a normal Human, bullies attacked me, I won the fight but I got in trouble…
So I can see them having a little bit of fighting skill, but not enough to beat Jin…
Greatest Of All Time, so yes?
TO JIN’S!!! You can’t have a dragon party without including a guardian lion-dog.
And you got another laugh from me on the last panel.
Yay! More Jin content!
😀
The Jin’s the thing,
according to the clue
and Cleo’s learning
what Rex has been through.
Nate the Seventh Doctor,
cunningly plays the fool;
only showing his guile
when he thinks it’s cool.
Pile in to the cars
and get to you little friend.
But don’t damage the temple
because you know he will defend…
and get to your little friend*
Two cars? Well they’re too many for a typical sedan, but a minivan with seven or eight seats could have let them all travel together. Then again, maybe it will be good for their mood to get Rex and Cleo away from Nate for a while now and then.
Does Cleo worship an Egyptian-like set of gods with animal heads, including one with a goat head?
I guess you could place Jin at the end of a queue, or maybe queue his hair, but I think you meant to cue the mythical good boy.
It’s fortunate that Cleo isn’t as spoiled as she could easily have been with such a fortune – because then the cars would have been bratmobiles, and that could have made Cleo really annoyed.
I’m wondering how many people here would get the joke if I said something about a bathtub of Jin… 😉 🙂
Well, it’s either Khnum, ancient Egyptian god of fertility, associated with water and with procreation … or Baphomet, a symbol of balance in various occult and mystical traditions, the origin of which some occultists have attempted to link with the Gnostics and Templars, although occasionally purported to be a deity or a demon.
Or Robin though that swearing to god would be inappropriate for his comics rating, while Khnum or Baphomet would be OK.
I have no idea if you guys are joking, or if you seriously failed to make the connection with Robin’s previous use of “what the fox”.
Well , i continue to think it’s a mistake to make a treasure hunt in an entire town ; especially with such “hunters”
It’s progressive , Rex : some peoples are just more “resistant” than other ones against annoying Nate
Once again, when Kai and Kaya get sync they share a single brain. A super brain that works at hyper efficiency, despite Kaya being a scatterbrain and a bit of an unfocused ditz. Nice to see Nate gets on the nerves of people with short tempers (Rex’s temper is shorter than Kai), thin skin, and semi aggressive temperaments, his friends need the occasional ribbing so they don’t get big heads and thicker skin.
Looks like Jin gets to be part of the Party Plan™! Hopefully he doesn’t get stage fright when performing his role. I’m guessing he’s gonna try imitating the characters from his favorite shows, either a hammy villain or ally, while Katsumi looks on in exasperation and embarrassment. It’s good to see Jin was invited to the party after all! Now if only the penalty for going over the time limit was altered to Benji and Red having to dye themselves pink…
It’s called synergy; Kaya’s excitability and Kai’s ability to focus merge to make the shared brain quick-solving.
Kai is the lens to focus Kaya’s ditz. 🙂
Heh, nice to see Jin will be involved! Also good to see Rex has a friend when it come’s to Nate and his annoying tendencies! Here’s to a fun treasure hunt for the crew!
Minus points recinded.
Title text: Are you sure you don’t mean “Cue”?
Nah. They’ll have to wait at the Dojo.
i swear to goat! i´m shipping cleo and rex so hard right now 😉
And here I could have sworn “cod” would be the proper substitution for “god”. I owe someone fifty bucks.
As already said in other thread, it’s obvious that she’s referring to Khnum, ancient Egyptian god of fertility, associated with water and with procreation … or Baphomet, a symbol of balance in various occult and mystical traditions, the origin of which some occultists have attempted to link with the Gnostics and Templars, although occasionally purported to be a deity or a demon.
Call of Duty wouldn’t make sense in this context.
Oh wait! You are talking about the Sacred Cod, carved-wood effigy of an Atlantic codfish, “painted to the life”, hanging in the House of Representatives chamber of Boston’s Massachusetts State House, who has looked upon outgoing and incoming legislative assemblies, for more than one hundred years.
Well, not as old as Khnum or Baphomet, but I can see the appeal.
…No, I am talking about the -cod-, the generic species of fish whose name is pronounced similarly to “god”. In the same way that characters have used the expression “what the fox”, referring to the -fox-, the generic canid animal whose name is pronounced similarly to “f***s”.
Aha! That must be the one they refer to when they write “IN COD WE TRUST” on their coins.
You are way over thinking this dude
But why didn’t they invite Jin in the first place?
He will be at the party at the end. Right now he is playing the part of one of the people who supplies clues to the next step in finding their “stolen treasure.”
They did invite him in the first place. They just invited him to be one of the steps on the scavenger hunt before he joined the party proper. (And thus, he was also assured of free transportation.)
World Guide, paragraph 1: The period at the end of “era” should be a colon. Also, “one-thousand” shouldn’t be hyphenated.
Paragraph 2: Move the comma from “celebrities” to “one”. Also, like in paragraph 4, pluralize “parent”.
Paragraph 3: Move the commas from “agreed” and “people” to “Today” and the second “and”, then add one to “Parents”.
Paragraph 4: Move the comma from “founders” to “that”, then add one to “Hybrids”, “However” and “Time”. Also, the aforementioned issue like in paragraph 2.
Paragraph 5: Add commas to the second “and”, “debate” and “locations”.
Paragraph 7: “Now, 10 years later, Hybrid City is still very much a work in /progress/.” Also, add commas to “construction” and the second “after”.
On the topic of the world guide. I can’t believe that in this story, the most unbelievable thing about it is Hybrid City. Not knocking Robin’s writing, but ten years is not enough time to build a city like this one from the ground up. Since they’re near NYC I guess they could be leaning on them for infrastructure while they get theirs built, but that would mean they’re subject to NYC taxes, which are the highest in the nation relative to average income. Not to mention the weather in that region is far from stable, unless you mean you can always count on it changing.
Though it is definitely one of the few places in the US where a project like this could actually be done. (I was barking up the wrong coast trying to pinpoint it because I assumed their old hometown would be in a bread basket/bike belt cross section, which is more than a day’s travel to New York, the fact they had a prospecting museum as well implied they were at least in the Louisiana territory) this does, however, give me more data to try to locate their actual og hometown.
I may be stretching how quick such a project could be build, that’s true. It’s all for the sake of making the setting believable “enough” so that you can suspend the disbelief and enjoy the story ^^
And for what it’s worth I don’t have any issues suspending my disbelief, I’m just a nerd that likes overanalyzing media I like. All my stuff is “I wonder how that would work out irl” not “it should be this way because it would work out that way IRL”
Well the FIFA World Cup in Qatar is being held in a city that didn’t exist ten years ago. They have stated that as a brag. I’m sure with the pools of wealth the Founders had access to they could pull laborers from multiple countries much like Qatar did. But since Robin has offered a more idealized world I’m sure The Founders were able to do it without human rights violations. Maybe once enough of the infrastructure work was done they were able to send the foreign workers home and start using more consistent local companies. And maybe the areas set up for the foreign laborers are now an abandoned area on the outskirts of Hybrid City where the “bad kids” gather.
I don’t really follow sports, so I wasn’t aware of that Qatar example, just goes to show there’s always more to learn. Might dig into that later to see how off base I was
I don´t recall having seen any sky scrapers in Hybrid city. I don’t think we’ve seen anything that couldn’t be accomplished by a massively parallel construction project in under ten years.
That having been said, I kind of expected that there was a core city already established there, where the residents were on average sufficiently poor or involved (that is, had a hybrid relative) that they were able to be brought on board with the project. For many of the residents, it was nothing but positives and neutrals. Their poor people stop being the most exotic people in the city, their business people get a lot of additional customers, it’s positives for everyone, so there’s basically nobody with a burning desire to disillusion people.
The latest World Building page got my mind running down another aspect of hybrids. Mainly since wealthy types are known to have extramarital affairs if there has been any evidence as to what parent is responsible for the creation of a hybrid or if it is only the pair that cause it. Since we have seen successive children of the parentage being hybrids I wonder kf say the father had an affair if a child from that would be a hybrid or a human?
I can assure you, extramarital affairs are not the exclusive domain of the wealthy. I went to high school in a city of around 35,000 people and I did my best to socialize with all of the other students. People didn’t generally talk about their parents’ affairs with me, but some did, and many were happy to talk about their associates’ parents’ affairs in my general vicinity.
Then there were the kids I knew who lived in trailer parks. They didn’t really talk about other people having affairs, but let’s just say every visit I made to them at home was by itself an incredible learning experience. Most of that was the fact that their neighbors did not stop talking because I arrived and mobile home walls are crap at blocking the voices of neighbors who have gotten used to having conversations with their neighbors simply by raising their voices.
To be clear, I did also encounter something vaguely similar to that in one of the wealthy neighborhoods in town, but that was limited to a conversation between two particular neighbors and it was a lot more of a back yard conversation rather than two people inside their own homes yelling at their neighbor several units down the path.
Bottom line, people have extramarital affairs, and it appears to be something that transcends class, ethnic, and religious boundaries. It may be possible that there are some groups who don’t, but those are groups that were not represented in the town where I went to high school.
Katsumi: “You realize if they can’t see me, they can’t find the clue, can they?”
Considering that Baphomet is a goat god, and that the Masons serve it; I’d be careful with the “I swear to goat” thing.
