The best part of seeing card games played in fiction is that you don’t have to let your imagination do the work of making all the monsters and magic and what-have-you interact with each other. The artist gets to actually manifest it.
And honestly? You’re doing Yu-Gi-Oh proud.
That’s actually why I’m confused by this game. It’s got Yu-Gi-Oh’s Health & Combat Mechanics, but the part with Benji shows that it also has MTG’s Mana Mechanic. Maybe it could be something like Duel Masters, where the creatures can be used as Mana Generators, but it didn’t look like that to me.
Of course, the easiest answer is “There aren’t really any determined rules, and the Yu-Gi-Oh Design made better content, so that’s what they went with”.
His deck’s not dangerous if you hold on;
he’ll find his cards down to zero.
Drawing too many too fast too soon
will fail if Nora can find a hero.

Which means it’s all about skill. And something tells me that someone with a lot of bad luck would put a lot of effort into developing some serious skills to counteract the aforementioned bad luck.
Someone at the game company definitely created these cards with this strategy in mind.
I just wonder what the counter strategy is *supposed* to be.
Also, I’ve never really liked the idea of having a card where you can deliberately pick cards from your deck, unless you have an Exodia-type deck. It completely nullifies shuffling.
Not really, first you need to actually DRAW the searchers, plus that is kinda the whole point of card synergy. If you don’t have a reliable way to get key cards for your strategy, you might as well be running just beatsticks
Also, cards with this effect pretty much always have an additional condition that you shuffle your deck afterwards, so it’s not like you’re given the ability to see how your deck is going to progress going forward.
In the digimon tcg the searcher cards always reveal the top (x) cards of your deck and take one or two with certain traits, then put the rest on the bottom. No shuffling after the game starts. There’s been more than one situation where a key card was revealed that wasn’t a valid target fjr the search in question so the other player was trying to cycle his deck back around as quickly as he could.
Aye, true, but if your opponent has good memory, at least with the ones where the cards are reveled, they can plan counters for the upcoming plays
Oh! I know this strategy, the coin flip gambler guy from yugioh gx. He was basically a fraud relying on his equivalent of the probability hack and fell apart as soon as someone got rid of it. That episode stuck in my head for some reason

Smart move to play the piggy shield, Nora, it looks like ghost cards also have the weakness of being as unable to inflict damage on physical monsters as how said monsters can’t hurt them either. Unfortunately for Nora (something that must be a regular experience for her) Mikey planned for this. It feels like overkill to use [Probability Hack] on Nora, the Brown Bunny of Doom, since the odds of him getting heads from the coin flip are not 50/50 when against Nora.
Once again, Twin Dragons has gone into “Full-immersion Gaming” mode like in Catacombs & Drakes. I wonder whose viewpoint this Yu-Gi-Oh style immersion belongs to, Kaya? Benji? How will Nora pull through this tough spot she’s in? Or will her bad luck make things worse?

No, you do not add a comma between the words “oh crud”, they work as a single exclamatory unit, so once again you are just wrong.
It should be impossible to guess wrong this much. Looking at just pure probability numbers, it must be deliberate.
