I guess it would be improper to check if Phoebe has the phoenix’s main power – and possibly fatal.
Could that be checked on the cellular level? Like, if she donates blood, does it become like JJ Abrams Star Trek Khan “superblood”?

She’s a streamer, no? She is used to cameras; spasming, not likely. On the other hand, a different medium may cause discomfort…
It think this is all too fast, and imagine Jesse and Jackie will feel the same(also if they are with a network/streaming service now, that may be an issue). Also imagine they get these sorts of suggestions all the time(parents pitching their child to someone involved in a show or band or other project “he’s a really good actor/great on keyboard/real tech savvy/etc/etc” is not uncommon).
I imagine they might be interested in the future, but not right now.
I mean, yes, fair points. But Kaya’s a mythical, and she does perform. Right away, heck no, but it’s worth considering, with what she can bring.
(plus, of course, this fact: if Cleo became sponsor, further incentive…not saying she should, nor would Kaya desire it, but it bears saying)
maybe just a small guest appearence where kaya can show off her fire breath? also, cleo – best wing girl ever!
They may get lots of asks and such, but how many of those are Mythicals and can breathe (and demonstrated publicly) fire. Happening right away, of course not, but something like this could get the wheels turning. After the event, the 2 actors could mention it to their people and then let the egg heads handle the paperwork and logistics if the studio likes the idea of having 1 or 2 dragons make a guest appearance on the show. A potentially good opportunity for Cleo as well, from a business perspective.
I think everyone is on the same page regarding “not now”, but the idea had to be suggested at some point before people were ready to do it and Kaya’s immediate reaction is probably actually conducive to making it happen. Now Jackie doesn’t have to do a rejection. Rather, she gets to talk to Kaya about her rejection and bring her around on Jesse and Jackie’s schedule.
Something occurred to me. IfJ Jackie’s backstory from JA was also inspired by her real life, then did the success of the show help her find Ivy? It’ll probably a plot point for JA eventually if so.
Of course Cleo is going to be Kaya’s agent.

A Phoenix? What?!?? Interesting fact about the feathers. So long as she doesn’t go full combustion… I wonder if accidental fires got started due to the feathers.

Kaya: WHAT?!?! 0.o
Apparently, once separated from her, Phoebe’s feathers burn at a low enough temperature that it doesn’t ignite anything else. Basically, once separated the feathers are like Magician’s Paper, quick whoosh of flame, bright and flashy, but you could hold it in your hand no problems at all…
Part of me would be curious to see if they burn that easily before being separated, but there would be FAR too big a risk of the feathers turning out to be flammable to safely test it. I’m no mad Doctor, willing to experiment on children….
Human tissue is about 60% water. It takes lots of energy to heat water. And a hand below a flame is heated much less than above the flame.
Many things around you are more flammable than your hands. For example fluffy clothes, or dry grass or leaf litter during a drought.
Traditionally, Phoenix flames don’t burn anything around them. I get that more recent works have had other ideas on that, but the original inspiration for the Phoenix was a particular bird waking up and taking flight and a particular optical illusion having been witnessed at the same time in the same place. There wasn’t actually fire involved on Earth, so nothing was actually burned and that informed the myth for thousands of years. Only in more recent years when people have learned more to question things have works come out that show things getting burned when a phoenix resurrects.
Called it, phoenix girl. That’s four down and four to go, for known mythical.
And it’s Phoebe Munn…but is that the character, or her actress, too? Could be one’s Phoebe, other’s Aisha Waters, but I’ll wait to see.
We know at least five:
– Kay, Kaya, Jin, Phoebe, Sam (Samantha, The Soot Goat)
A bald phoenix? Would she be mistaken for a red vulture? And could she restore her plumage by self immolation and rising from her ashes? Probably not, since she isn’t immortal…
So that’s what Phoebe looks like in color, bright red and cheerful. I wonder how she would get along with Kaya , though I’d get nervous over having a Bird Hybrid with flammable feathers be in close proximity to a fire breathing Dragon Hybrid. Better keep a fire extinguisher handy for such a meeting, especially with little miss pyromaniac here. We don’t want another potential cause for Phoebe to get a bald spot.
Kaya making a guest appearance on Jesse’s Adventure? Will she accept? Will she be a great actor? And will Kai join her? I’m sure Jesse’s Adventure would be excited to have Twin Dragons as guest characters (Kai and Kaya are a package deal, since they’re twins) and I hope the twins would be just as excited. I hope they don’t get terrible stage fright! Speaking of Kai, where is he and how is he taking all this in?
Kai is there, just off panel. I imagine he would be supportive of Kaya doing this. We know she can sing, but can she act? It’s not just memorizing lines, there’s a lot that goes into performing in front of the camera.
A non-dangerous form of spontaneous combustion is hard to imagine.
Smokers who fall asleep while smoking in bed are known for causing fires. Phoebe’s feathers could similarly ignite her bedclothes, even if they only smolder. To eliminate that risk, the combustion would have to be too cold to emit any visible light, at which point it’s questionable whether it even is combustion.
Either that, or the feathers would have to somehow fall out only in situations where there’s nothing flammable nearby – on their own, without anyone needing to take any precautions – and how would that work?
If Phoebe or her family take precautions in any way, then that confirms that the feathers are dangerous after all.
Remember that the twins have fire pails around in case one of them sneezes, and fire extinguishers, and apparently had to replace the curtains at least once.
Now I’m imagining a Twin Dragons version of Home Alone 2…😆
It could be that it’s too fast to burn anything instead of too cold to burn anything – magician’s flare paper produces large visible flames, but are over so quickly that they don’t have time for that heat to spread and ignite most things.
Flash paper is made of nitrocellulose, a very fiery substance that caused many fires in cinemas and film studios back in the day. Under the name guncotton it has been used as an explosive.
Illusionists are trained professionals. They know how to use fire safely under controlled circumstances. Igniting flash paper in your bed on inside your clothes does not seem like a good idea.
Many versions of a phoenix has some “safety measure” for that – for example a phoenix’s flames only burn what they want to burn, therefor in an unconscious state they wouldn’t be able to cause any fire, making it accident-proof.
Ok, I think I just figured something out, so bear with me for a moment. Clearly, the most likely scenario here is that both Kaya and the Jesse’s Adventure crew agree to the deal, right? But we’ve seen that another unnamed group is also interested in hiring Kaya for her talents, right? Thus, it would make sense if the main plot of the next arc is a conflict where the unnamed group is trying to coerce Kaya into working with them instead, and Kai and the others have to make them leave her alone.
Given the calendar has introduced Kimmy, who is into Drama Club, I’m guessing they are the ones targeting Kaya.
Panel 3: Maybe add a comma to the second “that”? Also, I’m pretty sure there should be a “too” between “scene” and “many”.
Real talk: My hair has thinned in recent years and I didn’t realize how far along it was until my brother took my picture on my birthday last year. If it ever gets to the point where I develop a bald spot, I’m shaving it all off.
Business snek makes bold proposition! Kaya working with the cast of one of her favorite shows? A dream come true?
As she is someone who is just starting her channel, I suspect at the moment it’s more of a nightmare fuel situation. She’s probably learned just enough of the job to understand many of the ways things can go wrong and not yet experienced enough to be comfortable with her ability to deal with them.
To be clear, it probably was a dream she had that caused her to get into having her own channel, but right now it’s too soon for her. Later on? I’m absolutely confident it’ll be a dream come true. But that’s because they’ll all take the time to do it right, rather than having the next chapter in this story be Kaya becoming a main member of the cast of Jesse’s adventure.
Main character? Nah, that’s too much too soon. More likely a side character used for an episode. They know she can sing so why not give Kaya a chance to really let loose on a stage for an episode? Or maybe a chance to be the voice behind next season’s intro song? Something more like that.

I think that phone hacking Doctor from the medical examination chapter would want to organise that too. He’s already introduced the Twins to Jin, if there are 8 Mythical Class Hybrids in Hybrid City, I’m sure he knows who each one is…
And they do have to go back for adult level physical capability testing…

Bad idea – Dragons and Phoenixes are natural enemies, like Centaurs and dragons. Or Faeries and Dragons. Or Knights and Dragons. Or Dragons and other dragons. Darn Dragons! They ruined Hybrid City!
I think Kaya just got discovered. Knew it was only a matter of time with that show she put on earlier. Just never thought it’d happen so soon. Here’s hoping the fame doesn’t go to her head.
